For my husband and I's 5th wedding anniversary (which isn't until 2009) we are thinking of going on a cruise in the Caribbean. We were thinking of going with Princess Cruise's because a while back they were offering a special celebratory package if you were celebrating a major anniversary while on the cruise. I don't know if they are doing this anymore so I don't know if we will actually book with them. Has anyone ever actually been on a Princess Cruise?? What can you tell me about it?? What are some other good cruise lines that cruise the Caribbean??

  1. I've been on five crusies to the Caribbean, and leaving for a mexican riveria cruise today!! we always cruise carnival and we have a blast!!

  2. I went on a caribbean cruise. Don't take carnival. It's very corporate and planned out and the food isn't that good. I suggest taht you leave out of the south instead of NY or Baltimore. You'll get fewer days at sea and more time at islands. Book your excursion before you get on board.

  3. I have been on 2 Carribean cruises and have one planned later on this year as well. I have always booked with Carnival, mostly because of the price that they offer, so if price isn't a factor I have heard good things about Princess. Royal Carribean is also a good one and offers a lot of extras onboard such as ice skating, rock climbing, inline skating, etc. I would advise you to start looking at cruise reviews to get a better idea of the different cruise lines and their respective ships. Sometime even the best cruise lines have a bad ship, so make sure you don't just go on a cruise b/c of the name. The best cruise review website I have found is cruisecritic.com. They also have message boards and forums that you can ask specific questions about ships/rooms/food etc. It has been most helpful to me as I plan out our Bahaman cruise for later this year. Also, check out some of my previous answers about cruise prices and getting the best deals... I think there is a method to the madness and it will ensure you will get a good deal on your cruise. Good luck and Happy Anniversary (really early!)

  4. We just returned Wednesday from an 11 day Caribbean Cruise out of NYC to St. Thomas, San Juan, St. Maartin, Domenico.  We were supposed to go to Tortola, but got caught in hurricane winds of about 100 miles per hour so had to skip that port.

We have been on almost every cruise line.  This May we return to Caribbean on Royal Caribbean for nine days.  We travel on cruises four times a year.

If you tell them its your anniversary, Royal Caribbean decorates your door, invites you to a special party and of all the cruise lines except Celebrity I give them five stars!  For us, going on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean is being treated like family.  Last year we were on Celebrity Infinity to Caribbean in January and to Hawaii in October.  We took Royal Caribbean in March to Panama Canal.  Can you tell we love the company?

If you contact 'vacationstogo.com' they have all kinds of specials.  We booked a trip to St. Kitts for January 2008 in 2006.

You asked about Princess, so I'll tell you.  We were supposed to go to St. Kitts in 2005 on Princess.  This was my Christmas present to my husband as he is a railroad buff and wanted to ride their sugar train.  Unfortunately, we were one of 86 cabins quarantined with Norovirus, so were unable to go anywhere the entire trip.  Princess did nothing for us, neither did cruise insurance.  However, Prime Minister of St. Kitts learned about our disappointment when I posted on internet and give interviews to Miami TV.  People of St. Kitts paid for us to come down for a whole week.

Royal Caribbean has ice skating, wave surfing, basketball, golf, rock climbing, etc.  You'll never want for activities on board!  The entertainment is top notch and the food is to die for!  Happy anniversary!

  5. A cruise is a great way to travel.

We always go on Royal Caribbean. They have more to do than any other lines.

If you tell them it is a special cruise they can accommodate you. It is all part of the experience. One couple was celebrating their tenth anniversary, the fifth time.

When you book and if you can, get a suite with a balcony. The extra room compared to an inside room is worth the extra money.

The balconies are fantastic for watching the sunset or sunrise.

We usually have breakfast on our balcony.

I also suggest a 10-11 day cruise. 7 is too short. 14 is great if you have the time. The first day is taken up boarding and getting used to the ship and the last day is used for packing and disembarking so you may lose 2 days.

    Have fun.

  6. I've been on 10 cruises...mostly europe, mexico, and the caribbean. I've traveled on carnival, royal caribbean, celebrity, and princess. as far as destinations go, europe was awesome because of the history involved in the ports of visit...interesting places. the caribbean was fun because of the beaches and weather. mexico is fun if you want to party. for a first time cruiser, i'd recommend the caribbean or mexico...aruba is my favorite caribbean island. the beaches are by far the nicest, and its a clean place. as far as cruise lines go, i like carnival because they are generally inexpensive and nice...definitely get a room w/ a balcony if you can afford it. princess and celebrity are GREAT if you can afford them....RCI sucks...most of their ships are old and staterooms are tiny.

  7. i have never been on a cruise before.try checking out expidia.com
