  1. yes i have been on a carnival cruise they are lots of fun. dont be shy talk to new people is my advice. have fun.

  2. I took the Carnival Pride to Mexico in May 2004.  It is a seven night cruise that leaves from Long Beach.  The Pride spends two full days at sea before docking at Puerto Vallarta.  It then stays in Puerto Vallarta until late at night.  Then next day the Pride docks in Mazatlan.  It stays until about dinner time.  The last port is Cabo.  Cabo is a tender port, which means that the ship anchors in the harbor, and you take a tender (one of the lifeboats) to the dock.  The Pride leaves Cabo at 4:00 and then spends one full day at sea before arriving back in Long Beach.

The Carnival Spirit leaves from San Diego.  It also goes to Mexico, but it is an eight night trip and goes to three different ports.  First the Spirit spends two and one half days at sea, finally docking in Acapulco around lunch time.  The Spirit stay in Acapulco until late at night.  The next day the Spirit is in Zihuatanejo harbor.  This is also a tender port.  Zihuatanejo is a fishing village.  A few miles away is the resort town of Ixtapa.  The last port is Manzanillo.  This is the only port of the six listed here that I have not been to (yet).  The Spirit then spends two full days at sea returning to San Diego.

As you can see, the Spirit looks just like the Pride.  That is because they are sisters (they both have the same hull design).  The Spirit is about one year older than the Pride.

  3. I have been on 4 carnival cruises, the last one being only 2 weeks ago.  you will LOVE it.  The ships are gorgeous, the food is fantastic, especially at dinner, and the ship and activities are fun.

Contrary to popular belief, it is not just a party ship.  They are beautiful, clean, and FUN !!  Have a great time!!!

  4. You have had plenty of answers that tell you what to expect so I'll just say a few words.  I have been on this cruise three times.  It is a wonderful experience!  Some have said how expensive it is.  I wonder how much they are drinking because it doesn't have to be.  Do count on about ten dollars a day for tips.  Take your own pictures, don't buy the ships'.  Sodas and alcohol are expensive, limit what you drink.  Take the reasonably priced shore excursions.  Don't buy your souvenirs in the ships' gift shop.  Buy them ashore.  Food and drink is included in your fare.  All meals, coffee, tea, milk, and all juices.  The entertainment is included and it's usually terrific.  On my last cruise, five days, four nights, my bill was under forty dollars plus tips.  I only had one cocktail, but I am not much of a drinker anyway.  Go, have fun.

  5. i've just been on carnival pride about three weeks ago. it was such a wonderufl experience! the ports were wonderful adn you also have time to discover wonderful places.

the crew is extremely friendly[but i don't know if they change until you go] but i'm sure that they will do everything to help!

The shows are wonderful and really entertaining. The waiters will sing to you after every dinner and make you laugh! It is an extremely clean ship. It has got three pools, one is for adults only. Their is the pizzeria open every minute and also the ice cream bar.[free]

  6. I've done that cruise with Princess.  It is alot of fun.

  7. We took our kids on a Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival a couple of years ago.  Carnival isn't the fanciest cruise line, but it has a little younger crowd so the teenagers had people to hang out with.  One thing that worked well for us was purchasing soda cards for all four of us.  It cost maybe $4 per day per person, but the kids got to get pop whenever they wanted.

Three more tips, if you don't mind:  1. Pack light.  You don't have much storage space in the cabin and you'll probably shop. 2. Plan excursions early so the one you really want doesn't fill up.  3. Consider flying to the city you sail out of the day before you leave.  We were up at 3 in the morning or something like that to get to the airport, and we were dead tired that first day.

  8. not a carnival cruise ..yet. we have one planned for June 2008.  We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise in Sept. 2006 to Spain, France and Italy...it was so awesome.  just buying the cruise is not the only expense tho'  there is no cash on the ship, you get an ID card and all your purchases get added on to it and you get a bill at the end and although meals are included, alcohol and anything else you want to purchase from the shops on the ship are not included.  AND it adds up fast...excluding off ship excursions you might sign up for....we plan on budgeting $100 per person per day in extra ship expenses per person.  that doesn't even include air fare to get to and from the port.  for our family of 5, we are looking at another $2000.  It is an awesome experience, but make sure you have all your monies allocated.  they also ask for tips for the crew who has catered to you the whole vacation...and that is also another $20-$30 a day per person.  the cruise line should tell you, in the fine print,  read the whole document.  Then...have a WONDERFUL time!
