  1. There is shopping at Nassau, particularly if you like to get adult beverages. The liquor store right across from the quay will deliver your purchases right to the ship for you.

There are other shops as well.

  2. I went on a carnival cruise with my husband to the bahamas and we loved it.  We took lots of pictures and everyone we came in contact with were nice.  We took a small ferry over to paradise island where the atlantis hotel is and that  hotel is beautiful.  Beautiful restuarants, shops and casinos.  We even rented one scooter and rode around paradise island and nassau on our one without tour guides.  It was very nice.  We are planning to go back soon.  Not as a cruise but to stay at the atlantis hotel for a week.

  3. There are a few 'cultural' shore excursions that you can sign up for.  When I go, I go diving.

  4. Ive been there.

    1.  Nassau, by most part, is a giant slum.   I believe they call it "over the hill.  Basically, there is a large hill, it divides the "nice" areas, which house the government buildings, and tourist area, from the slums.   This area is pretty clean, and I felt safe walking around.   In the slums of Nassau, people live in shanty houses, and I actually witnessed a machete fight between two groups of kids while riding through (to be fair, the police were right on the spot and dealt with it).   I say, go over the hill at your own peril.

    2.  Outside of Nassau, the rest of the islands that are easily accessible from Nassau, are very beautiful, and several have some tourist type things to do (except there is this one island with a bunch of celebrity mansions on it, and you cant go there).
