We are taking 15 guests for Spring Break. 11 are first time cruisers. Recommend any shore excursions? I heard some unfavorable things about Jamaica.

  1. I have not personally been on that ship, but I have had several friends go on different times, and all have said nothing but good things about it. Check out cruisecritic.com, it has great reviews for cruises; they are from actual cruisers, and the reviews are required to share pre/post cruise info, where you went and what you did, and then how they liked the ship. It has been a great website for me as I plan our next cruise.

  2. We were on the Conquest last May. I agree with checking out cruisecritic.com. Jamaica is not all bad. I would recommend Sunset Beach Resort. This is not a ship excursion. When you exit the terminal, there will be people helping you get a taxi. Tell them you are going to Sunset Beach. Taxi costs $2pp. You pay $40pp at the resort...this includes food, all drinks, beaches, pools, water park, snorkeling, kayaking. There will be plenty of taxis outside the gates when you are ready to leave. This is a very safe place as it is fenced. You will not be hassled inside the resort. We liked it so much we are flying there to spend a week.

I would recommend doing the stingray excursion in Grand Cayman-but not through Carnival. Try Captain Marvins or Nativeway. Both are on the web.

Cozumel has several bars on the strip that have $1 beers. Paradise Beach is nice, $14 taxi ride one way, free beach with free chairs, $8 to use the non motorized equip. I think there is an all inclusive pkg also. I hear that Passion Island is nice also. That's where they do the Corona commercials. You have to do this through the ship because cruise passengers are the only ones allowed to go. Have fun.
