  1. I travelled on the Carnival Conquest in the fall of 2005 (it was a birthday gift from fiancee). I loved it. Take a couple of nice clothes, since they do have a "formal" night, and you might even get to meet the captain. You can research the ports of call on line before you go, and when you are on ship, go to the cruise directors meetings where he tells you what to see and what not to see. If the Conquest is still going along the same route (Jamaica, Grand Caymans, and Cozymel, I strongly reccomend that you either stay with a tour or stay with a group in Jamaica. Kingstown is not a pretty town, and if you get off the beaten path you could find your self in an uncomfortable envirnoment. Along the same route, if you are going to the Grand Caymans, make sure that you take a String Ray tour. (We did Captain Marvins, it is close enough to the dock to walk to.) You will get a boat ride out to snorkle and get to see/touch/feed sting rays...it is awesome!

Also, with Carnival, you do get assigned a table to eat at in a certain dining room, and a certain time. Try it at least once or twice to see if you like your servers and your dining companions. Our servers were great, but the people that were supposed to eat with us never showed up. The servers were right on top of everything that we asked for. (We were second seating, and our server was Alex).

Also, don;t be afraid to ask for seconds or doubles on the meals. I.E., if they are having Steak or Lobster, don't be afraid to ask for both...YOU are the paying customer...

Take in a least one of the shows...the first night out show was great, as was the last one. Don't be pressured to try to do everything (just on board is impossible)...and most of all...(you will hear this again)...SMILE, YOU'RE ON VACATION!
