  1. I went on the 7 day Mexican Rivera cruise a few years back with Carnival.  Very enjoyable.  You will pay extra for booze on the cruise, as well as shore excursions. Also at the end you leave tips for the dining staff and people who take care of your cabin.   We went on our own once we got to shore. We also exchanged dollars to pesos in  Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.  In Baja the dollars are just as easy to use.  The reason we exchanged for pesos is that they seemed to round the money, and it wasn't always the same.  If you end up with extra pesos, you can leave as the gratuity.  They had a daily overview of the stops, it was good to go and listen.  We also took on board with us a case of bottled water.  I get most of my travel advice from tripadvisor.com.  Have fun!

  2. I would not take the carnival holiday. Its way to old now. Its showing its age.

  3. I've been on the Holiday twice.  It's great - but like someone answered, the drinks and excusions can really add up.  They have a casino, which is fun - and a 24 hour pizza & ice cream place.  They have a formal dining room - or you can eat in the casual buffet dining room.  There is also a formal picture night where you dress up and get your picture taken - you don't have to buy that, but we did since it's one of the best pictures my family has taken.  There's lot's on board to do depending on your interest ..bingo, shows, etc.

    Enjoy !!!!

  4. I just got off of the Carnival Holiday's four day cruise to Cozumel.  Lots of people got the norwalk virus.  I got very sick...my sister did not.  Don't touch anything!  Wash your hands frequently!  My sister found out that the cruise after ours had someone airlifted off of the ship due to extreme illness.  Other than getting sick for two of the four days....I had a great time!

  5. I just got off the holiday 2 weeks ago.  expect a lot of food and entertainment!  Go to cruisecritic.com and explore the message boards.  You can find any info you need.  I did a review on the carnival thread for my Holiday cruise about a week ago as did a few other people on the same cruise.

  6. Well, Carnival Holiday is an older ship but it's still really fun.  Carnival has great nightlife and entertainment.  The ports are great.  You will have a great time.
