Anyone been to Assisi, Italy?

I visited Assisi this summer during a 3-week trip and I absolutely fell in love with this Italian hill town. I was 15 at the time and I feel so grateful to have been able to go there. Has anyone else visited Assisi and have any thoughts to share? This is one of my favorite pictures from my time there... ahh, I miss summer... http://i26.tinypic.com/2qkj6gl.jpg

In the late Eighties and early Nineties I was one of the Organizers (Alitalia/RAI/Monks) of the Christmas Concert, which was aired on Christmas day in TV World vision. It was a splendid event, with the World’s best Conductors and Musicians. Each year we invited a different Choir and I made CD’s for the company’s Christmas gift of the last 5 I organized . Uto Ughi was my personal favourite (1990-2), together with the London Boys and the Poznan Boys Choir (1991-2). The most thrilling part was the “Spartan” lunch afterwards, in the Franciscan Oratory, where the monks served us their home grown vegetables and other  wares and wines. Assisi for me has always had a particularly spiritual significance, where your really “feel” the peace and harmony, all around you. Another aspect I was very proud of was the transfer of the “Perkins Art Collection” by the then rich and successful ALITALIA, in the Basilica precinct. Tempus fugit but Assisi is always there, ever the same.

Not been yet but will be travelling through Perugia en route from Florence to Rome in the summer and will now make a point of checking out Assisi. Sounds great!

I went to Assisi this summer actually. i am in love with Italy. I stayed with a host family in... Roncade i think it was.

I was with a group of other students and we did a bunch of group activities. One of those was climbing up a restored castle tower and rappelling down. Another was buying gellato. I loved Italy.

I went there in the late 1990's. It's like going back in time 500 years. Beautiful little town.

Assisi is absolutely gorgeous town! It is definitely my favorite place in the world. I was there in 2005 and fell in love with that town on the spot.
