Anyone been to Barcelona?

I'm going for 4 days next Saturday and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good restaurants/hotels/things to do? Already I am going to watch Barcelona play at the Neu Camp. Any suggestions hugely appreciated.

the restaurants are great....ask about the argentinian steakhouses....they are amazing....a simple hamburger is so much better there than in the states....

Camp Nou should be a lot of fun. (To correctly pronounce it is "camp no")

The restaurants in the Barceloneta are fun.

(I don't agree with the poster who spoke about the hamburgers.  He's obviously never had a good hamburger from South Dakota or Nebraska, they are easily comparable to anything from Argentina.)  The Ramblas are fun and there are some nice restaurants just behind the "Boquería", a market, which in itself is very interesting.  There is also an interesting night life and you can check out many different types of live music. Nat Star's suggestions were very good.

It might be late to book, but I really suggest Hotel Regencia Colon.  It's in the heart of the Barri Gotic (on the same square as the Cathedral) so you can walk almost anywhere.  Double rooms are about $137 US and you can book on Expedia.  Their breakfasts are overpriced but it's okay because there's a great place for churros nearby on Via Laietana!

Other great restaurants include Foodball, which is owned by the shoe company Camper.  All the food is healthy and it's all shaped liked balls!  Two balls makes lunch, three makes dinner.  It's located at C/ Elisabets, 9 (very close to the MACBA).  The interior is so funky (see the second link below) and there are usually lots of English-speakers lurking around.  Juicy Jones is the best place for smoothies and salads at C. Cardenal Casanas 7.  The best lunch in the city center can be had at Organic, on C/ de la Junta de Comerç 11.  At Organic you can get a HUGE lunch with soup, salad, an entree and dessert for less than EUR 10.  It's an amazing deal and there's nowhere nearby that you can eat that well for the same price.  All of these restaurants are within two blocks of Las Ramblas.

I went to Spain/Barcelona for 2 weeks in Nov 06 and loved it !!  You will love Barcelona !  I stayed at the Hotel Claris and it was nice but a bit expensive, I don’t know your budget so go to www.tripadvisor.com and type in Spain Barcelona and you can read reviews of all the hotels according to your budget.

Barcelona was a very clean, pretty and safe city. The people where nice, most speak Spanish but you can get by with English too. I only speak English and had a great time. You need to walk on Las Rambles, you can spend all day just walking on this famous street, then you need to take a stroll into the Gothic Quarter, where you will feel like you where back in Roman Times.  

The city is very tourist  friendly . They offer the double decker buses that will take you all over the city. There are 3 different lines and some have 10 stops each, don’t worry cause you can get off one stop spend as much time at the site you want to see and the next bus comes every hour.  I only saw like 6 sites cause you can spend all day and just one site.

People eat Dinner late there like 8-11 and eat a big lunch so kind of be prepared.  Barcelona is my favorite city of all of Europe so far.  I hated France !

Stroll down Las Ramblas (don't get robbed), find a nice tapas bar in the backstreets of the Gothic Quarter, take the metro out to Parc Guell to see the works of Antonio Gaudi and check out his famous half built church La Sagrada Familia. I wouldn't bother paying the admission to go inside since its just a construction site. Go to the top of Montjuic for a beautiful view and see the buildings of the 1992 Olympics.
