  1. I normally would stay at Harmoni or Planet Holiday. Both clean and at least a 4-5 star. These 2 are close to Nagoya Hill shopping mall. Not many major malls for shopping other than Nagoya Hill, Mega Mall and Batam City Square. For Seafood, go to A1 or Windsor Food Court. Cheap and good! Not many places of interest though unless you want to visit temples, there are 2, one is Maitriya and one is tua pek gong if i remember correctly. If you follow tour, they will bring you to shops which they will get a percentage cut out so if you can, try free and easy. You can hire a taxi for the whole day as it is definitely cheaper than per trip but pls bargian. Do try their Nasi Padang though...great selection and even greater pricing! :P

  2. ^

    how about :

    -formosa hotel

very clean & comes with good service..

    no swimming pool though..

but its located between lucky plaza & centre point in nagoya..

charges about 360,000rupiah and above per night.

    (1SGD = 6,750rupiah)

    - planet holiday hotel

    i forgot 4 or 5 star..great fitness gym,sauna,whirpool, swimming pool..scores the highest in comfort!

    located in jodoh.

    charges about 600,000rupiah and above

    places to shop :

hm,you didnt mention what kind of goods you'd like to buy..

but here's the list of shopping centres

    - Lucky Plaza

    - Centre Point

    - Nagoya Hills

    - BCS (Batam City Square)

    - Mega Mall

    seafood dining :

    - Hotel & Seafood Restaurant 888

    - Bengkong Laut 555 restaurant (a little pricy though)

    - there's another kelong restaurant (sorry i forgot the name)

its located further down after the Barelang bridge (location quite far)..if you're taking cab there, the cabbies should know which restaurant you meant.the food there is better compared to Bengkong Laut..

    Places of interest :

there's actually not much places of interest in Batam...

plenty tourist come down here for water sport, jet ski, banana boat etc...best place is at Turi Beach Resort with its own private heavenly beach...

  3. The best way to enjoy is to join a tour, so that your holiday shall not be spoilt by transportation(esp ferry n taxi) worries or problems.

If you are not a shopping type but like to try a dozen types of lively outdoor activities, Waterfront City should be a good bet. A day in Batam would be more than sufficient saving yourself on expensive hotel bills.  If you have 2 or 3 more days to spare, hopping over to Bintan resorts could complete a satisfying holiday!
