Anyone been to Fiji on vacation?

Question

We are planning a trip to Fiji. I have a Lonely Planet and am researching the different islands, but I just wanted to get any extra info you good people might have!

Any great places to stay (specifically which islands), or activities to do?

We are NOT on a tight budget. My ears are sensitive, so no diving but we can snorkel and we enjoy other sports like parasailing and hiking. We also like relaxing on the beach. Would love to see turtles if possible.

Have been to Fiji a couple of times.  Don't stay on Denarau - it is artifical, touristy, has a crappy beach and you can't snorkel right off the beach.  If you have a big budget I can personally recommend Turtle Island and Likuliku.  You might like to look into a sailing trip stopping off at various islands.  With the smaller yachts you just jump into a kayak, paddle ashore and go explore.  Try googling 'sailing Fiji'.  You can snorkel right of the beach with a lot of the Fijian islands (good corals and heaps of fish).  Fijians are really nice people - friendly, laid back and unaffected.  There are lots of couple only resorts if you don't have kids or don't want kids around.  You might be very lucky and see a turtle.  I am sure you will have a nice time regardless.
