Anyone been to Morritt's Grand Resort on Grand Cayman Island?

We're looking at going to Morritt's Grand Resort on Grand Cayman Island in May. Any thoughts on this place? And the local areas? Safe for American tourists? Should we take the kids or leave them w/ Grandma?

Grand Cayman is very safe and a beautiful island. The Marriott is located on 7 mile Beach and close to many places to dine. The bus stops outside and will take you downtown if you plan on not renting a car. Be aware the resort is not large and many business conventions are held at this resort.

Grand Cayman is an expensive island. The American dollar is worth about 20 cents less on the Cayman dollar. However the white sand beaches and beautiful water make it worth it.

I have always enjoyed staying at  the Marriott's through out the world. They have a good reputation and I think you will have a wonderful vacation. It is considered a 4 star resort.

I would leave the children with Grandma if that is a option for you.

TripAdvisor.com is a great resource for reviews from past guests.  They also have a destination guide and forum for locations all over the world.

Cayman is VERY safe.  Just use your usual caution, as you would at home.  Whether or not to take the kids depends on what they like to do and whether or not you want "alone" time with your spouse.  Cayman is mainly a "beach" island.  There aren't really any sights to see to speak of.  Be aware that Cayman is a prime destination for cruise ships and their passengers.  Anything on Seven Mile Beach will be very busy when the ships are in.  Rum Point is more isolated and therefore will not have many cruisers; same for sites south of G'town.
