  1. I'm going in March '08', I can't wait!!!

  2. Good walking shoes is must because you got to do lot of walking in the city/buildings and of course walking is very pleasurable.   There are tons of museums and each of them takes whole day to just glance thru.  Metro is best way of transport to roam around different parts of city.  Paris is very beautiful,  but expensive too!!

  3. Walking shoes, jeans and sweaters, cameras and film or digital memory cards, batteries, ATM and credit cards.  Skip the traveler's checks though -- they usually cost more than ATM transaction fees by the time you purchase the checks, then pay to exchange them into euros.

Leave fancy jewelry and other accessories at home to keep them from being lost or stolen.  I carry a basic canvas messenger bag slung across my body when I travel.  The bag is large enough to carry a medium sized notebook, my camera, a couple pens/pencils, and lip balm.

Make sure you go to the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame of course.  The rest of the list depends on what you like.  I like wandering neighborhoods and street markets, as well as museums and gardens.  Here's my top 10 list!

    Eiffel Tower

    Notre Dame

    Sainte Chappelle

    Musee d'Orsay

    Musee du Louvre

    Musee Rodin

    Palais Royal

    Jardin du Luxembourg

    rue Montorgueil market

window shopping in St. Germain or the Latin Quarter

  4. bring shoes..good walking shoes..there's a whole lot of walking involved especially if you are going to go to the historical sites like versailles, sacre coeur and all those good places..but for memory..make sure when you go to sacre coeur get your picture drawn by an artist from the street..there are lots of those in taht area..pretty cheap..bring clothes taht are comfortable when walking for a long time, but be fashionable at hte same time, because after all, paris is the on eof the fashion capitols. bring extra money for the metro, which, besides taxis and buses, is a means of travel for you. alright have fun..!!!

  5. It's beautiful!

There's so much to do there.  And what a beautiful view or everything. Well, I think it's usually warmer then it is in February, but nearer the time, check the weather forecast to see what it will be like. :)

  6. I Only Speak The "Truth": People in France will just have to come to terms with your solemn vow never to return. I'm not sure how they'll summon the will to carry on without you.

To the person who asked the question: I hope you have a great time; I'm sure you will. My recommendation would be to get a decent guidebook, and make a point of seeing something off the beaten path, as Paris has far more to offer than the well-known monuments (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, etc). Not that you shouldn't check those out- you should. Hopefully some of these links will help you towards that end, based on your interests. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Par...

  7. yes, it is beautiful...bring a good pair of walking shoes and your digital camera or plenty of film, it was raining when I went so I am glad I brought my umbrella...oh and make sure you have travelers checks.,,,u will have such a great time.

  8. Hi buttercup,

When I was stationed in Europe in the early 70's, I went to Paris approximately 13 times in 2 years. All you need to do is walk around at first on the "Champs", try to get a hotel off of the main if your on a budget, if not on a budget, well.......Defintely go to Left Bank, great little out of the way eateries, good music, great culture....almost like going back in time....but, take a taxi if at night.....Besides that, of course the Tower, Napoleon's Tomb...you'll be amazed at that. Versailles is defintely worth the trip....you'll know why they cut the king & queen's heads off....when you see it, you'll know what I mean....Sidewalk cafe's are great for breakfast & lunch, hope you like wine & cheese.....Also be ready to be flirted with....it's just a fact......It can get cold in Paris....bring a heavy coat to play it safe...Eat, drink & make some great memories....Have a great trip!!!!.....I know I left a bunch of places out....there's a big museum there also....Humor!!!!......Jim P

  9. Oh  God, another misfortunate falling for the charm and overexpensive, overrated FRANCE! .. l'll only tell you a lil secret between you and me.. ok are you ready? here it goes..

    THE FRENCH ARE SOOOO BORINGGGGGGGG!!!!

  10. i suggest you gurls to to the top of the Effiel Tower its very beautiful at night plus extremly windy so i suggest to bring a couple of warm sweaters. You will see there for us its hot out but them it isnt. i was in Paris  in April and i found it hot. so i would suggest also to check the weather channel couple of weeks before and note how hot it is in the city. theres alot of stuff to see.. Like the louvre beautiful in there also les Champs Elises is the most expensive place to shop but there you will find like Louis Vitton, Lacoste and others. Dont forget to get some Euros before you land there.. its a good thing to have just incase you want something at the airport! Paris is beautiful and i would go back there in a heart beat. Just remember to have fun and soak up as much of Paris as you can because when you return you will miss it alot and wish you were there again:)

    Hope you girls have fun!!

Oh and dont forget to bring something to do for the plane ride.. its 8 hrs. and your bum does get soar!

    Bon Voyage!!

  11. First of all, weather at Paris and in France in general might be quite cold at that time. So dress appropriately.

Owing to hard negociations between left-leaning labor unions and the French government Paris is crippled with strikes in means of public means of transportation, and if ever any arrangement is to be found before February, strikes and troubles in subway and buses in Paris is nearly a French custom. So, be prepared for that.

Don't plan to buy clothes and shoes in France where they are much more expensive than in U.S.. Moreover, bear in mind that the Euro curency is at its highest today (about $1.44 for Euro 1).

More information is available at the previous similar questions to which I answered extensively on basic rules when going to France (see my link below - 3rd answer signed Winston)

  12. well in february it will be pretty cold still so i suggest take coats... you have to go see the Louvre, the eiffel tower, Notre Dame and the Cathedral atop Montparnass.

I loved paris, it is beautiful. You really should try some authentic cuisine ie escargot and frogs legs (its actually pretty good)

the shopping is fantastic... you have to check out the rue de rivoli

I bought a fair bit of Louis Vuitton wares last time i went (what better place to buy it!!)

I hope you have a fantastic time...

also if you want to see a cabaret show I suggest you don't go to the Moulin Rouge, some of the smaller places offer better shows for much cheaper just ask you hotel and they will tell you:)

  13. You got already so much answers, so I just want to mention do not forget the Lido or Crazy Horse or Moulin Rouge.

Have fun and enjoy Paris, I am sure you will

    Edit

Two ladies in town without the husbands.....

You have to visit Galarie Lafayette besides that  it`s a great Shop it`s also a beautiful building, you can  go on the top and you have a view all over Paris

and Notre Dame by night, it`s special
