Anyone been to Sardinia at Xmas?

I've never been there but it sure as heck is on my wish list. I've been invited many many times. You know, I suppose many Sardinians go back to the island for the holidays. Sardinia is most popular for summer vacations (holidays) so I would guess that if you were weary of crowds then winter would be the best time to explore it.
