  1. Depending on the region you are visiting, the weather can be cool in the mountains (even cold in June) or very hot and humid along the eastern coast.  There are two rainy seasons in most regions, and long drought between them.  The towns and cities on the eastern coast are larger and busier, with more people who understand English; but the central and western areas ("the bush") are very nice and a favorite for nature-lovers.  There are several safari parks, and those are in the center of the country.

There are also a few areas with cave paintings.  Near the center of the country, close to the capital town of Dodoma, is a village called Kondoa with cave paintings.  Nearer the coast, close to the town of Tanga (very hot region), is a set of cave paintings called Abandawe.

http://tanzaniatouristboard.com/ is the tourist website for Tanzania, if you are interested in finding maps and information.

In the towns themselves, you will find some people who speak English.  One place you might not think of is an Internet cafe; when I lived there it was the best place to find people who knew English (at least a little) and other foreigners who had advice about places to visit.  Internet use is about $1 for a half hour's use, and many foreigners and educated Tanzanians go there.

Can you be more specific about what your trip objective?  Will you be going there as a tourist, or living there for some time as a teacher or missionary?  I would be happy to talk to you more about the country and advise you.  Good luck with your trip!
