  1. Yes there was when i was there a lot of years ago and even then they were upgrading/building new playgrounds/tennis courts/bars/childrens activities so if i enjoyed it then you are bound to have a better time now.  My mum recently went back and had no complaints apart from it was a place more suited to people with kids as it was quieter than other places in spain she had went to but still a lot to do!

  2. I was in Majorca two years ago there are plenty of water parks as stated above weather is lovely and warm beach at palma was lovely there is plenty to do I doubt if you will be disappointed Also buy your kids snorkels and goggles as when in the sea the amount of fish that are there will amaze them it amazed me (and freaked me out when I saw them but I'm a big woos my girls loved it though)

  3. The port and holiday resort of Alcudia lies on the north east coast of Majorca at the western end of the magnificent Bay of Alcudia. Generally, transfer time for the 52km journey from the island's main airport in Palma is around 1 1/2 hours, however, the major tour operators now often drop guests off at the nearby resort of Puerto Pollensa before making the short trip over to Alcudia. This will effectively add another 45 minutes to the already lengthy journey time.

The resort itself is spread either side of the busy northern coast road, and really lacks a centre or focal point. When booking a holiday here it may be worth checking on which side of this road your accommodation is situated. For the more adventurous, brave or just stupid, this road does have a "dedicated" cycle lane running the full 3-mile length of the resort, which on occasions you do have to share with taxis, or other locals who can't be bothered with the formality of using the main road. Bicycle hire is plentiful and relatively cheap throughout the resort, and costs around £4 per person for a days hire.

The warm shallow waters of Alcudia Bay make this resort very popular with families with young children. The beach is without doubt a major attraction to this resort with almost 8km of fine, clean sand with a wide variety of water sport and other facilities available to suit all tastes.

The resort has a number of attractions to suit an active family, which include a water park and go-kart track, as well as the usual array of bars, shops and restaurants. Entry to the water park is reasonable at £8 for adults and £4 for children. In addition to the usual selection of slides and flumes the park boasts 2 large swimming pools, a wave pool and extensive chips with everything fast food type catering outlets.

In addition to the standard "see Majorca in a day" type trips run by most of the major tour operators, a good selection of 1/2-day boat trips runs most days from the main port area. The cost is around £12 for adults and £6 for children, including lunch, and takes you up the coast to a secluded beach at the tip of Formentor.

Getting around the resort is sometimes difficult, buses are often full (especially on market days), and taxis are almost non-existent when you need one. So be prepared to walk.

The Old Town of Alcudia is 1-mile away inland and is certainly worth a mention, but not necessarily worth a visit, with parts of the town dating back to around 1300.

Mainly hotel based, however, the resort does have a small number of late night discos and nightclubs. This resort in the main is ideally suited to families.

  4. me & my son & daughter went to alcudia 7 years ago this june,it was really nice and the weather was beautiful, the beach is really nice as well,if you just want to chill.we went to "the sol alcudia  hotel"i wouldn,t say there was much for the children, unless you travel a bit.but we did stay at the hotel pool quite a lot, then went for walks,it was just a complete change going abroad, then what your use to back at home.at the time we went my kids where 5yrs & 10yrs old, they loved every miniute of it. i cant see why your children shouldn't like it or yourselves.hope you all have fun and love every miniute of it like we did

  5. I didn't stay in Alcudia, but somewhere a few minutes from there. The weather should be good in June, and there is plenty of things to do for kids-water parks and all that. I went when I was 10 and REALLY enjoyed it, so hopefully you will too!
