  1. dont listen to that 'Craig' person. He doesnt know **** about Paris.

If you already have your hotel and flights booked, then I would suggest you make a list of places you would like to visit while you are there. Do some research, and of course, you can't go to Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower, l'Arc de Triomphe, Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and Mont Martre. The only one out of those five you will have to pay for are the Eiffel Tower and l'Arc de Triomphe (If you want to go up on either of them.)

Although I didn't try it when I was there, I would suggest the cheapest way to get around Paris would be to go on the Metro. You could get the Metro to the Louvre, and then walk around to the rest of the sights. Many of them are really just down the road from each other, but you will be tired when you are finished because there are soo many that you must see to get a proper taste of Paris. If you want to spend a bit of money, you could always get one of those tour buses around the centre of the city, that way you will get to see alot of the monuments, but it could be slightly expensive.

If you want to get bargains, then I would suggest going to a market on Mont Martre. You could get some really good deals, but there are pick pockets around Mont Martre since it is near the red light district so be careful while you are there.

Finally, here are a few websites about Paris that could help.

One last thing. You should try the escargots (snails) when you are there. You can brag about eating them when you get back!

  2. go couchsurfing.com

free bedding and probably some-one who knows the city better than any guide ever will.

The greatest thing you can do in Paris is FOR FREE. It's called walking around the in the streets. I lived there 8 years, and I have to admit every time I'd go out for walkies, I'd be taken aback by the utter beauty of the place.

No time or money for museums, forget them, they're not what Paris is about - the cafes, the parks, the beautiful women, the funny japanese tourists, the churches and monuments at every corner...

    Enjoy!

  3. Go to the Louvre. When I went, it was very cheap and the artwork was incredible.

  4. Paris will be, inevitably, tres cher! Assuming you are from the USA, the dollar is very weak. When I went in April, it was $1.67 to the euro, and it's probably increased since then.

Get a museum pass! You save time and money. (You don't have to wait on all those lines! Yay!)

Also, you can haggle down the prices of the souvenirs sometimes, but it won't save you that much in the long run. As far as the meals go, breakfast doesn't cost much, but lunch and dinner really add up. Consider that, and don't eat close to any big attractions like the eiffel tower since they jack up the prices for the tourists.

Hope I helped! You will have an amazing time!

  5. Use the metro when your there, its the cheapest transportation. It costs 11 euros for ten tickets. Plus the metro takes you everywhere, almost all are near an attraction.

Don't pay for a map. When you get to your hotel, just grab a brochure, almost all them have a map inside highlighting the major attractions.

Buy a museum pass, either 2 or 4 day, it will save you money. It does not only include museums, it also includes the Eiffle Tower and Arc Triumpe. Plus with the pass you bypass most of the long lineups.

Pick a hotel that has a kitchenette to save on food. I stayed at the Citea Auguste. It was near a metro, its in a small business district, so there was alot of grocery and bakery stores that you can go to. It was great, I had my breakast at the hotel, made a lunch and would eat in the park in between touring around.

Make sure you make an itenerary before you go. Lots of the tourist attractions are near each other which will save you on the metro bc you can walk.

Go to the following website, it has information on budget hotels, restaurants, tourist attrachtions, and lots of tips and advise:

  6. I have a answer for you......... FORGET PARIS

It is over priced....... most places are a rip off...... and bottom line.... you cant do Paris cheaply.

My tip to you is go to Barcelona,  it has everything Paris has AND MORE!! You will not be disappointed!!

  7. like a hotel or trans from airport,. be more specific

  8. My most favorite city in Europe, only problem is that it is very expensive, I dropped 20K on my last trip there, my wallet still hurts.

  9. I agree with everything above. Of course Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Champs Elysées, Montmare, Notre Dame.... but instead of the Eiffel Towr, i would recommend you to go up the Tour Montparnasse which is a bit expensive but when you arrived at the top you see the whole city (including the Eiffel Twr ....which is of course not the case when you go up the Eiffel tower itself!!). plus is not as crowded as the Eiffel tower. If you prefer Eiffel, prepare yourself to be surrounded by tourists and to queue up for at least 30min. You can also try the Paris CBD called "la Défense" and that is outside the city. Hope that helps

  10. for a fantastic and traditionally french meal, go to le pot de terre, its around the beautiful latan quarter near metro Place Monge.

3 course menu was about 15Euro when I was last there. Good simple French food.

This is an amazing experience and a memory you will always treasure...enjoy
