Im 17 and Im going there next month for march break with 3 friends and my parents. I've stayed in Cuba and Mexico multiple times and also the Punta Cana part of Dominican. I know the beaches aren't as nice but I was just wondering has anyone stayed at the Bahia recently? I've been reading many negative reviews so I'm just wondering is there anything to worry about (aka food). I know alot of people are picky and liek to pick out the negative things but Ive just been reading many negative reviews so I was kind of concerned. I stayed at the Bahia Principe Tulum in the Mayan Riveria, Mexico and it was fabulous! Any opinions on the Bahia Principe San Juan? Please and Thank you:)

  1. omg it is amazing there i went in July last year for the first time i thought it was amazing, if you go towards the market(near the spa) on the hotels beach go over the yellow bridge the tours are awesome but watch out the boys are players. Me, my cousin, Little sis and other cousin went and sat at the mini golf nearly every day and night and talked to the boys that were there they are really nice and friendly i don't know if they are still there though after the hotel closed after alto of people were ill. my mum fell ill but nobody knew what was wrong with her think it may have been dehydration, she is much better now, no one else in the party was ill there was 17 of us. the disco was amazing the only problem is, is that you need to make sure you get a green band as this allows you to get drink and the music in the disco is loud. anyway i loved it you will have an amazing time. if you need any more info contact me.

  2. Hotel Bahia Principe near Rio San Juan (north coast of the Dominican Republic) is in average a reasonable good resort with a lot of activities inside the resort. The only way to discover the country is with excursions because the resort is a bit isolated from everything. But believe me a good choice to have a beach/bar/pool holiday it is excellent. For what I know, the food ( Buffet) is good. Like you said some people like to look at the negative side of everything, they are in general people who don't know how to travel. Anyway enjoy your stay!

  3. There were 'issues' at the hotel in summer last year which, following investigations by the Dominican and other international hygiene companies, determined that the food at the hotel was not to blame.

I have been to the hotel several times and I really like it, yes it is a bit out of the way but there are some great excursions available that will show you more of the local area. The beach is fairly nice, the sand is darker than some other beaches on the north coast but the sea is sheltered so it makes it easier to swim and enjoy some of the water sports that they offer.

The staff are excellent and in the unlikely event that you do have problems you need to bring it to their attention so that issues can be resolved quickly.

As far as the food goes the buffet does exactly what is says n the tim and the waiter are very attentive, plus the 'Chateau All Inclusive' wine is actually drinkable unlike many other places, the A La Carte restaurants are also pretty good although you do need to make reservations in advance.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip !
