I have been reading lots of review on this place. Most of them are great but then some of them are not so great. Anyone ever been there or know someone who has? I am a worry wart and I have read some peoples reviews and they say they do not have a water filtration system which is very hard for me to believe since it was just built and most every where you go now has one. Also I worry about security and everything. Anyone have any advice?? Please share!

  1. Hola.  You are definately a worry wart.  You need to chill or perhaps rethink visiting Mexico if you are that anxious.  We are not the USA, we are not the same at all.  Those that compare us, have an awful holiday...seriously.  Those who chill and enjoy Mexico for what it is, have a great time.

Mexico, and Cabo for that matter, is located in a country where, not all is on the up and up.  Although there are attempts to improve every aspect, we still fall short.  This is to be expected.  We have corruption, we have gang activity, we have officials that take bribes and are not accountable.

Okay, so having said that, Yes the Riu Sante Fe is lovely.  It is clean and well respected for a mexican resort.  It has its own water system (desalination) but it comes from their resort next door called the Riu Palace.  That is probably why no one is aware.  It is close to the downtown Cabo area, and on the best beach in Cabo for action and activities.  There are so many things to do in Cabo, I can't list them.

If you do decide to go, I'm going to give you the worry wart list of things to avoid:

    Drink bottled water.

Don't get drunk and stumble around town stupidly, there are locals that watch for you and may take advantage.  Stay in the nightclubs and take a taxi home.  Or stay in the resorts and have fun.

Eat a yogurt everyday to counteract the bad bacteria you will drink/eat, as well as breath in, or get in your ears.  If you find you have a bad belly, or a bad cough or bad sore throat/sore ears, you probably have consumed some, so give your immune system time to fight it.  And stop re-enfecting yourself in the meantime by not swimming in any water, eating any strange foods or drinking too much alcohol.

Do not accept anything free from anyone.  Free drinks, free booze cruise, free ride, free dinner, free blanket, free whatever.  Its either timeshare or a scam.

Say No Gracias politely to the street/sand vendors.  They are only trying to make a living.  Yes, you will have to say it 100 times a day, but once you get through the 100 people they will leave you alone.  But mark my word, their stuff is the cheapest and best stuff you will find anywhere in Cabo!

    Have a good time!
