Question:

Anyone bought and used a gift certificate from Restaurants.com? (or any other site like it)?

I'm scared these sites are either not legit OR, I'll get to the restaurant and they'll laugh at me when I show them this printed certificate.

Anyone had any experience with this?

  1. I have not used it personally but my co-worker and his wife have used it over the past several months. From what he tells me it seems to be a legit website and they have accepted his certificates at all the restaurants that participate.

If you are still uncomfortable just buy a certificate for a small amount.  Maybe you can call the restaurant ahead of time and ask the manager if they accept the certificate.

  2. I have used it MANY times.  Never had a problem with a certificate.  The best thing is that once you order you will get e-mails giving you codes for reducing the cost even more.  Best time to get a certificate to a popular place is at the beginning of the month.  The best time to get one even more reduced is towards the end of the month when they reduce the cost even more.  I have purchased $25 certificates for $3.  The website now even has menus from the restaurants so you can see some of the types of food they have and the relative cost.

Try it you will not be sorry.  And no one will laugh....you can laugh at the people paying full price!!

  3. No, but I have bought many on Ebay...probably 30 or more, never got taken!
