The questions are littered all over the "books & Authors" genre.

Am I the only one a little irked that Twilight is getting worshipped as the greatest book in history?

Have you read any better?

  1. twilight is my favorite book ever. Its the best I've ever read.

  2. To me....

Twilight is the BEST you can get!

    Sorry  =]

  3. It's bizarre, and it's not even good writing let alone

"OMG!!! its like the Best Book Ever!!!"

But there's no easy accounting for fashion and group dynamics, as Darwin observed in his first published paper.

"Twighlight" books are unlikely to be remembered.

Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett have a much better chance of posterity appreciating them.

Douglas Adams' works are fully in print after 29 years,

and Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels started appearing 25 years ago, and now run to 37 volumes, offering a wide variety and a rich environment.

Will there be even a glimmer of Twilight in a quarter of a century?  I doubt it.

As Corelila has pointed out, bad English teaching can turn people off good books, and nothing kills interest faster than a set of analytical questions for homework.

As a film director once put it, speaking of the effect of analysis in his genre: "Yes, you can dissect a film, but you won't have anything alive at the end of the procedure."

Having the full force of: "Lady Macbeth -What a cow!"* hit you is much more valuable than approaching Shakespeare with a list of questions and a word-processor primed to cut-and-paste.

    *Julie Walters in "Educating Rita"..

  4. People say they are not overly obsessed and read other books but all the do is read the other books and judge it on twilight. I dont know how these people live. All they can do is live drink eat twilight. Why do they even obsess anyway. The whole book is fake. There is no Bella, Edward, or Jacob. Goodness these people are getting on my nerves.

  5. Yeah I agree there are much better books, but a lot of people were inspired by Twilight . I loved Twilight , but i'm not obsessed with it. It's just that people are overlenthusiastst over it.

  6. i agree wit the one above. Twilight is a masterpiece.

  7. I guess it doesn't really bother me because it's important to the people asking the questions. I don't read every single question anyway.  Just the ones I'm interested in.   I'm happy to see people read, period.  It doesn't matter what they read!  I think most people who consider it the best book in history are those who are just starting to get into reading.  If Twilight gets them started, I'm all for it!  Even if they never read anything except romance novels, at least they are reading!  Some people don't read anything at all.  Now that's sad!

  8. Yes I am, and you want great vampire books, try Annie Rice. :)

A better series you say; how about Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia ?

  9. Yes, I'm sure lots of people have. Even the ones asking the questions like:

OMGZZZ!!! EDWARD OR JACOBZZ?? I LUVE THEM ALL!!! <3 <3

only nice ppl answer this, k???

You have to read Romeo and Juliet or To Kill a Mockingbird for school, right? It kind of kills the fun of reading when you're being asked stupid questions about each chapter every week.  Or worse, when the teacher is reading ssoo slloowwllyy and you're dying to get ahead so you just read ahead and when the teacher finally calls on you, you have no idea where you're supposed to be.

You're not the only one irked. There's lots of fantastic books that are getting overlooked and every one of them deserves a fandom just as much as Twilight does.

  10. Twilight is really low on my list.

Some books that I think are way better than Twilight are:

    A Great and Terrible Beauty

    Rebel Angels

    The Sweet Far Thing

    Peter and the Starcatchers

    Peter and the Shadowthieves

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon

I Have Lived a Thousand Years

    Just a few.

Have you noticed how Twilighters brag about how many times they've read those books, over and over again? This one girl said she read each one 26 times! It just shows they don't read anything else, so they can't compare - making Twilight the best book ever in their opinion.

  11. ummmmm lets see HARRY POTTER

  12. twighlight is one of the greatest books ever written! if yo like tht sort of plot i suggest you try the stephanie plum series by janet evanovich the first book is called one for the money

  13. Yes, and yes.  I read the books and liked them, but I said the same thing for the princess academy/goose girl books.  Twilight books are good, but not great.  Every time I see another question I just tell myself, at least they are reading.  More people are reading because of this book and books like it and thats great.  I am annoyed at the lack of propriety they show, but whatever.  Its their life.  It will blow over soon, and then there will be another book like Twilight, maybe it will even be mine, who knows?!

  14. Omg yes!!!! Their are sooooo many Twilight questions in this catagorie. I find the Harry Potter series to be wayyyyy better. It is so annoying how everyone is obsessed with Twilight, Harry Potter is AMAZING, it is so interesting, and I have learned so much from them about life. I really enjoy reading them over and over. It really irks me how everyone is always comparing Twilight to Harry Potter. Twilight is a romance, Harry Potter is so much more.

  15. Twilight has inspired people who don't read a lot to read.  Because it's the best book that these people have read, they're worshiping it. It bothers me, too, because I am a reader and know how many other great books out there in the fantasy genre alone (Harry Potter?  Lord of the Rings? Chronicles of Narnia? Inkheart?), never mind every book ever.

  16. Yes, and no.

I can't believe there are so many Twilight questions (which belong on a Twilight forum, really. All they're asking are questions like, "Who loved Breaking Dawn?" and "Who hated Breaking Dawn?") I agree it's getting a bit blown out of proportion. But that's how obsessed people act, right? It's an easy series to get addicted to. You want to share it with the world. Soon it will blow over... at least until Midnight Sun comes out.

No, I haven't read a better series, but I haven't read many series' anyway.

  17. There are thousands of better books--one that comes immediately to mind is Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. The Golden Compass is the first book.

At least the main characters aren't filthy, evil, undead, demonic creatures!

  18. harry potter hands down

i was actually glued to the book and couldn't wait to buy the next installment as for twilight ive not even read the last book
