Anyone burned by the "all-inclusive" vacations? What should I watch out for?

I am planning an anniversary vacation for my husband and myself in January and we are looking at Cozumel All inclusive packages.

Any pointers for someone who has never gone "all inclusive" before?

  1. All inclusives are awesome..my husband and i will be staying at the hotel cozumel and resorts over christmas this year..make sure that u eat right when the food gets put out..this way your food is fresh, and hot...less chances of picking up any viruses..although gratuity is technically included..make sure u tip the housekeeper..and the egg lady!!..dont forget the egg lady..seriously..she or he who in charge of the omelettes..usually in charge of the staff..they will remembr u..al;so..take some 2 dollar bills for tips!!..have fun.

  2. Millions of gringos have gone to Mexican all-inclusives and they came back not feeling like they were ripped off. but consider that the all-inclusive resorts have to price their rooms at a price that they don't loose money even on the biggest eaters and the heaviest drinkers. So if you look at a resort like Aura Cozumel Resort Wyndham Grand Bay, at $446  per night and compare it to Casita de Maya at $74 per night.  Can you eat and drink enough to justify the $372 difference.  click the link below to see other Cozumel hotal prices.

  3. We were in cozumel lat year and stayed at the park royal it was great food excellrnt rooms awesome one thing I did figure aout but was chicken to do was funjet had there deal where they pick the hotel and I knew it would be the park royal and it was so I missed out on 100.00 each savings I waited and booked a last minute deal there were a lot to cozumel good luck

  4. I loved my all inclusive stay in Cozumel! My husband and I were so happy with our honeymoon stay that we wished we had stayed longer! We actually booked through Expedia.com and stayed at The Melia. Everything was exactly like Expedia listed. Our room was right on the beach and we had our own hot tub and beach right outside our door! We of course didn't eat every meal at the hotel because we wanted to eat out and do other things, but, it is definitely ideal for breakfast and lunch; while you are hanging out at the beach and the pool. The drinks are great having while relaxing on the beach or having a few before you go out on the town. If you and your hubby are a little adventurous I suggest booking the Pirate ship lobster dinner! You get taken out to sea, entertained by pirates, all the drinks you want, and a fabulous lobster dinner. Whenever we get a chance to go back, we are definitely going on the pirate ship again!

    I hope you have fun!!!

  5. I love all inclusives but I prefer to go to them off season.  January starts their season which means there will be a ton of people there.  You'll have to wake up early to claim a spot on the beach and you might not get a reservation.  Make sure you choose a place that has plenty of restaurants.
