I'm stuck on a few key words i think i should know, definitions in google are confusing me, does anyone know what these words mean in Sociology?

  1. Social mobility refers to the fact that individuals in free-market economies discover that their well-being in such an economy depends on their own level of hard work to achieve their own ambitions, rather than their status, derived from their parents.

    For instance, some parents who have never had the chance to go to college might spend a lot to have their children go to college.  Ultimately, their children will actually get higher-paying jobs and move up the social status ladder based on income.  Also, it might also be that an individual moves down the social status ladder by income be generations.

    social mobility is moving  e.g from working class to middleclass.

    social statification is class- i think.

    im not sure about the other two, sorry.
