Anyone done the trip from sydney to perth with kids?

we are a planning to drive from syd to perth in oct. we have 2 young kids who will be 3 and 5 when we go. we are also planning on camping for the majourity of our accommodation. (depending on weather)

anyone done this trip with kids? i would like to hear your experiences and any ideas to making it a fun easy going holiday. thanks

Have airconditioning!

Stock up on portable DVDs, colouring books, iPods, card games, magnetic travel games...  There is nothing so boring as the Nullarbor Plains when you're little.

I have done the drive from Brisbane to Perth which is a bit long. When I did the trip I was at school. There is plenty of places to stop and see along the way. Just make sure that you have a lot of things for the children to do. Also when ever we went through a town we had to stop and look outside.
