Basically, here's how a 100 point GPA scale works. For example, these are the grades you made for first semester:

English: 93

Math: 95

History: 86

Science: 74

So instead of a 3.2 GPA, you'd have a GPA of 87 which is very accurate and works great when determining class rank.

4 point scales can be innacurate because whether you get straight 90s or straight 100s you still have the same GPA.
