Anyone else been ripped off by Dish Network?

I tried to cancel their ripoff "dish home protection plan" and they kept adding on the fees month after month.

The fly by night sales companies they use also tacked on services I didn't ask for.

What is with this? The product is great, but It's almost like their sales and CS reps are completely out of control.

Anyone else experience this, or is it just a fluke?

  1. Sometimes a sales outfit won't be completely honest and above board.  They just want to make money and aren't particular about how they do it.  This might not be Dish Network but a contracted sales outfit.  In this case Dish might not be aware of what's going on.  They could be just doing what the paperwork calls for.  Call them and and ask why they keep adding stuff on.  Maybe there's more stuff in the contract you signed than you read.  But talk to them and be up front.  Tell them what you expected want for service.  Explain outright that you don't want anymore add-ons.  Tell them if this keeps up you'll contact the Better Business Bureau and/or the Chamber of Commerce as well as whatever federal regulatory agencies are appropriate.

I've had Dish for years and havn't had any trouble.  But times change and businesses can get in a bind and need more money or just get greedy.

  2. well they kept trying to charge my mom more money and she had to pay some hundreds to start it and get the dishes put on my house
