Anyone else bothered by litter?

Question

I know I have asked before.. but don't you think the litter in America and the world is getting really bad??? Its awful where I live and there is no real improvment. I pick trash everyweek on the roads to try and help, but I cant do it all... who else picks trash out there? If everyone would just pick up trash in their own yards, a huge change would be made. Why do people not care if they have soda cans and garabage sitting in their yards? If anyone out there does, it would be awesome if you picked it up and threw it out or recycled it! Thanks guys... let me know your opinions...!

I am really confused how so many households produce so much rubbish. I was thinking one day, if we ate all the food perpared rather than cook more thats needed-that would save waste. Most things are recyleable and this is could so i try to eat all i get and recycle everything but the bin is always full. there are some things that need blackbinning-but is still irritates me of full bins from small homes!!! I also pick up rubbish and store my rubbish in pockets until there is available bins. Some people are just lazy same goes with light switches i have to run around my house to turn them off as people find it such a effort. i feel your annoyance!!! :)

I'm no "Tree Hugger" but I agree littering is a horrible thing to do and it's so irresponsible and lazy! It can seriously hurt ecosystems not to mention it looks gross! I live off a rural road and a lot of people seem to think its a nice place to throw their trash out and it infuraites me! How can people have such a lack of respect for the very ground that they live on?

You think litter in America is bad?  You should see the mess in Africa!  The litter even is on the roofs over there!

I agree with you. I have a little one and our parks are not the cleanest let me tell you.  I don't care if you drink just please throw your beer bottles in the trash.  Another thing that I really wish would happen is that the city needs to give everyone recycling containers not just certain blocks.  i think that that would also help.  Thank you so much for what you do. I wish  more people did the same.

That's one thing that i also hate... when i see it, it makes me want to puke and it upsets me to think that my fellow man would treat the world this way. Yes, I have picked up trash.. even in the woods and wetlands  is trash, that makes me really sad and pissed. I am big into recycling. I even manage in recycling here in my dorm room and make my roommate too! Not only is it a problem for our environment but our wildlife as well. Trash can get blown almost anywhere. Waterfowl and fish can get tangled up in liter and die.. and that's because of us! Its unexeptable. I believe that people should not be so lazy and just put it in the trash can for Pete's sake! I want to live in a clean environment also, but with all the ignorant humans out there, its a little hard. Not everyone thinks that our earth is important, God gave it to us, why is it so hard to take care of...you wouldn't just throw trash around our houses... the earth is our home! i don't think there is quite enough advertising for liter and problems like this. But one way we could help is to convince others around us that recycling is the right thing to do and should be done. No questions asked. But yea, maybe its my love for our environment and animals, I too am bothered by this.

People will clean up after themselves if they have any pride. In grammar school and high school my teachers stigmatized people that left garbage around as low class, ignorant, and lazy, losers.  Maybe we need more self awareness in our society. In  my community several businesses have adopted roads. They take the time to do the housekeeping of the roadsides as a public service which keeps the area beautiful.
