Thompson was clearly winning the fight by manhandling Kimbo on the ground. Anyways...

Did the ref stop the fight to early? Most people say yes! What about you?

  1. YES YES YES!!!!!!! Thompson was ripped off. kimbo was getting his butt handed to him. thompson got dazed but wasn't in danger just like the previous minutes of the  fight, but the fight clearly goes to THOMPSON!!!!!!!!!

  2. I dont think so his ear was mauled the center of balance is in the ear he would mot have been able to fight as well and would have been pouned by kimbo

  3. Ha, ha, ha.  To the guy commenting that "Thompson was knocked out on his feet," give me a break.  Kimbo hit Thompson harder in round 2 than in round 3.  If you recall, Thompson was dazed as heck in round 2, but the fight wasn't stopped.  And just like in round 2, Thompson could've easily grabbed Kimbo, regained his composure, and won the fight on the ground.

EliteXC is a joke.  They couldn't have a guy with a glass chin beat their headliner.  Just like the Lawler fight.  Of course they stopped it - they wanted to sell a rematch.  Had the fight continued, Lawler would've scored a knockout.  Wounded eye or not, people wouldn't have paid for a rematch once that happened.

Thompson is a big, strong guy.  I think he could've handled a few more punches.  He wasn't knocked out - he was tired.  Kimbo was tired too - he needed help leaving the ring!  I guess Kimbo's learning that it's hard to fight real fighters instead of fat guys in a backyard.

No way anyone will convince me that Thompson lost that fight.  If Kimbo knocked him out in the first 30 seconds, I might have bought it.  But that stoppage was a con.

  4. I've worked professionally inside MMA organizations for the last year, so at least for myself I can claim some credibility about MMA. I don't know where everybody else is coming from.

I agree, Thompson had this match won. Unfortunately for him, Ferguson found that ONE weak spot (and a glaringly obviouws one) and took advantage of it. Thompson got distracted, Ferguson nailed him with sold punches that legitimately knocked him out.

Overall, I was satisfied with the fight. Not a GREAT fight, but it tested Kimbo to his limits, and he nearly failed (and probably should have), but sometimes fate has a different idea of what is fair and right.

  5. I feel he was.  So what his ear busted, it didn't get swolen like that by accident.  I was expecting more out of the fight.  Both guys were winded for crying out loud going into the 2nd round.  I've learned allot about MMA in the last 3 years and love watching it.  Most professionals I've seen on UFC don't get winded til the end of the 2nd round and that's b\c they throw bombs the whole time.  I think Kimbo would have lost.  I'd put my money on a professional mma fighter that is as small as diego sanchez againt Kimbo.  Kimbo has allot of learning to do.  If he gets good cardio and a better ground game, he'll be dangerous.  He already has the stand up down.  I think that ref is crazy for stopping it, the guy was still on is feet and moving around.

  6. yes he stopped it early

  7. The fight should have been stopped much earlier, but at the point in time where it was stopped, Thompson was KO'd on his feet.

  8. Thompson was getting hit with some hard punches that should have knocked someone like Thompson out. To Thompsons credit he seen them all coming and they looked worse than they were, and imo he was not out on his feet when the fight was stopped. He should have been allowed to continue. Would he have been knocked out anyway? Probably, but Kimbo was spent,so we will never know.
