Question:

Anyone else find the whole McCain/Kerry bias revolting?

I call a spade a spade, so I appreciate everything that McCain has done for this country and I AM NOT saying that he does not deserve our respect, but during the last election that didn't seem to matter. Kerry got no respect for the service he contributed to this country during Vietnam. Does anyone else find the selective military appreciation annoying?

  1. Media in 2004 : Military service is honorable, if you didn't serve you don't deserve the White House

Media in 2008 : If you were in Vietnam, you're a baby killer and dumb for being shot down and deserved to get tortured

While I do find the bias revolting, you actually have it backwards.

  2. What they did to Kerry was clearly wrong, but that does not make McCain's service record fair game.  While I would hope that the Democrats did not sink to that level, I'm sure they will.  That is one thing that should be off limits in politics.

  3. Absolutely. Unfortunately republicans open 'pandora box' by starting dirty ads against Obama. So it's only fair now to attack McCain personally , including lies about his age, service, his mental abilities and so on.

  4. Kerry should get credit for being the only Jew to serve America

  5. I would agree that it's selective appreciation if it weren't for the droves of Vietnam vets (many who served alongside Kerry) recalling of Kerry's time in the service, and his actions when he arrived home.  Google Swift Boat Veterans.

  6. You're right, and it goes beyond that: Obama and Kerry were "out of touch" but the McCains have to ask their staff how many houses they own.  Cindy McCain is an admitted pill-popper and a homewrecker, but Teresa Kerry and Michelle Obama were somehow villains? The Republicans have no shame, and starting next January 20 they won't have the White House, either.

  7. i agree.  military service should be praised and respected, by all.

but the difference was that kerry was lambasted for returning home and decrying the flag, government, army, war and medals he served under.  he is my senator and i have been disgusted by this guy since day one, when he ran for office.  as a politician he is widely known as a self benefiting hypocrite.  i respect kerry for serving very dangerous missions bravely, however.

i do not agree with mccain's policies but i do appreciate that he never came home and said a bad word about the flag, government or people he served under while in the navy.  he was a first class officer.  an imperfect man but never bad-mouthed his country.

  9. Yes.  Republicans may live to regret 2004 if Democrats choose to employee similar tactics. I can hear the cries of "no fair" now from the Republicans if Democrats rolled out those propaganda tapes McCain was forced to record.  But the fact is that's exactly the style of attack they used on Kerry. And if they had such tapes on Obama don't think for one second that they wouldn't use them.

  10. I'm sick of the bias of the dishonest far-left wing press in this country.  There's no comparison between Kerry and McCain.  Kerry was a traitor who wounded himself for medals and lied about his country and fellow soldiers.
