  1. People and many birds enjoy socializing during a meal.  This is very common  and normal behavior for birds that prefer to live in flocks.    Years ago I read an article that suggested you eat with a new baby parrot to start bonding with them.  The article said that if you eat good healthy foods then your bird can eat almost all the same foods you do.   This helps because they tend to not be picky eaters and get a well balanced diet.  I have many birds and my family is use to me telling them that I am going to have dinner with my flock.....  My birds look forward to the dinner times we share..  Usually I eat people food and they eat their bird food.  If it happens to be a Taco Bell night , you hear whistles and screeches as they rush out of their cages for a bite or two of my dinner before they eat their own.

  2. aww that is cute lol, and weird but, she has you as her companion in life. my grey does that but i think thats only because she wants what i have no matter what that be. this just shows you how much she trust you. usually birds dont want people standing over there food. they think they will take it. but yours dosnt.

    good luck

  3. I used to have a cockatiel that did the same thing.  It was like he was my "dining companion."  :)  I don't know why they do this...???

  4. Well my birds do the same thing, but not with me. When one of my birds goes to the tray to eat, so do the others. Since you don't have more than 1 bird, she would want to eat the same time as you. If you go to a pet store, and see that if one bird starts to preen itself, so will the others. Same thing with food. Its normal.

  5. Birds tend to copy what others are doing, subconsciously even. Like a parrot copies other people's voices. Other types of birds cannot do such, they do other things without knowing it.

Also, you might have set a variable ratio schedule of reinforcement for this bird by whenever you come in, you eat, it eats, and this rewards the bird. Seeing you eat means that it gets a reward...

See if it starts eating even when you walk in the room.

  6. Maybe she needs a companion and you are all she's got. What if she doesn't like to eat alone? It sounds cute, but maybe she's lonely.
