Basicly it will not turn on. When i plug in the charger a small red light comes on (the infrared i think) but nothing else happens. I tried using the sony ericsson software updater to see if that would help. My computer recognised my phone and it said it was updated successfuly but the phone still doesnt turn on! However there was a sound coming from the phone speaker when i plugged it into the computer so i know its not completely dead!

Also ive tried leaving it on charge over night and using a different battery but nothing seems to work!

Please help me! :(

(P.S. I found the phone when i was out so it has no guarantee or anything)

  1. The most common problem with a cell phone that is acting like this is liquid damage. If you found the phone laying around, then who knows what happened to it. I've never worked on this particular phone, but there is often a small sticker inside the back cover somewhere that will indicate if the phone has been in the presence of water. look for a small circlular or square sticker. If the sticker is white, there has been no water present. If the sticker is red or pink, then the phone has been in water. Sometimes the manufaucturer will also put a sticker like this on the battery too. The other possibility is that the LCD display is not working. If you press the power button and hear the phone power up, then that is the case.  If neither if these is the case, then I would guess that either the ROM inside the phone is bad. They may have changed their practices, but ericsson used to put their ROM BGA's right under the keypad. After a while, the board would flex and the solder would start to crack. This too could cause a similiar situation.
