I wish to meet an American Indian some day. I'm planning to go to the USA, one day. Where can I see authentic Amerindian culture? Which state?

  1. Yup I do. Its cool. My grandma was like 1/4 Native American but the rest of my family is Japanese <3

  2. Hello I am Native American from Washington State and my reservation is a very nice place, mountains, hills, lakes, businesses, tribal programs, recreation.  The reservation resides by a town named Grand Coulee Dam (biggest dam in the US) a tourist town.

People have this image of Natives and Indian Reservation as being poor situation. If you don't know about Natives don't speak until you experience it. So I didn't like the first comment being stated. sorry.

But in Arizona, the Navajo's are the largest tribe in the US, their reservation is quite big. I would say go there because there is Grand Canyon you have to go through their reservatoin to enter the Grand Canyon park. When I went there it was amazing and seeing other Natives just made me feel prideful.

    I hope this help.

  3. I'm very interesting in American Indian culture- I'm hoping to focus on Native American studies in grad school. I'd agree with the above answer, about visiting a reservation. I think some of them offer tours, as a way of showing people the culture and lifestyle. Best wishes finding what you're looking for, and hope you enjoy the US :-)

  4. The people you see in the movies are actors and actresses, so they look so handsome, or etc.]

The ones you'll meet in real life are real people with real problems, especially if you head out to an Indian reservation... My introduction to making friends with Indians is meeting white people who happen to be of mixed blood... Fascinating, but they are pretty much like most Americans but with a just touch more of kindness

  5. I would recommend the Lakota Sioux in western South Dakota.  You could go to one of the Reservations or just visit the Black Hills.  They aren't exactly authentic as in living in Tepees but I doubt there are any doing that except for tourists.  I love the area around there where I grew up.  It was the site of the film Dances with Wolves.
