My daughter was 6lbs 2oz at birth, and now at 5.25 months is only 14lbs 7oz. She is very healthy... nurses lots, and has lots of wet and dirty diapers... she is just a very dainty lil girl ...

Anyone else have a tiny baby???

  1. I hope all the answers put your mind at ease.  Kelly mom has a breast fed chart that is helpful.

  2. Your baby is not small!  She's a bit above the 30th percentile.  That means if you compared her to 10 other baby girls, 3 of them would be smaller.  Now my breastfed babies (all 4 of them) have dropped below the 5th percentile in weight, while still being above the 50th percentile in height.  Now that's skinny!  But, it's genetic.  My husband is 6'0" and 145 lb, and his brothers were really skinny as children too.

  3. My baby is nice and small also. She was born 6lbs 5oz, and at her 4 1/2 month check-up she was 11lbs 6oz. She is very strong and healthy, meeting her milestones ahead of time, she's just like you said for yours, a very dainty little girl. lol

I'm not sure what she is now, I will find out in a week at her 6 month check-up.

  4. my son was 6 pounds 6 ounces at birth dropped to 5.13 and at 6 montsh was 16 pounds 10 ounces. at 9 months was 29 inches andd 17 pounds- todady he is still breastfed at 16 months and is about 31 and some inches and 22 pounds- he's always been smaller than other boys his age except for when he was a chunky baby at around 3-4 months.

at 12 months my son weighed just over 19 pounds

i also wanted to add that my fiance cousin only weighed 12 pounds at one year old- he was a full term baby born at 4 pounds though to a 4'11 woman who weighs about 90 pounds and his father is only about 5'6. Today he is a healthy 15 year old though he is shorter than all his friends

  5. Yup, my daughter was always a wee little thing. I don't remember her weight at 6 months, but she was 6 lbs. 11 at birth, and 17 1/2 pounds at a year.  Perfectly healthy, just small.

(FWIW, a gain of about 8 1/2  pounds in 5 months is pretty average, so your baby is doing great.  She was small at birth, so you can expect her to continue small.)

  6. all babies are different, just check with the dr!

  7. Geez now i feel like my baby is big lol!!! My daughter is 3 months and 3 weeks she had her shots done the 15th of this month and she weighed 15 lbs 1 oz she probably gained a couple lbs since 12 days ago, she was 8lbs 10.6 oz at birth so maybe that's why she is big =P every baby is different.

I breastfeed also, my daughter eats like a horse lol

  8. My baby was 6lbs 9oz at birth.  She is breastfeed.  When we went in for her 4 1/2 month visit she was 13lbs 8 oz.  For her 6 month visit she was 15lbs 12 oz.  Every visit my doctor told me my baby was health & she has never been sick.  She is now 12 1/2 months old (20lbs 15oz) .  My lil girl is just small like me.  She doesn't look skinny...she's actually alil chunky!  It's just genetics.  every baby is different.

  9. my son is in the 50th% for weight for age

he is 98th% for height for age

and 25th% for weight for height

So he is big in one way and small in another

But when you look at him he looks REALLY healthy  and if you look at his Da he is tall and lanky too!

  10. Yep, Elyse was 6 lb 15 oz at birth and now a week shy of 5 months is barely 14 pounds.

  11. my son is a small bottlefed baby...

he was 7lbs3oz at birth and now at 8.5 months he is probably about 18 lbs (getting a new weight on the 10th, cant wait!)

he is smaller than pretty much every other baby around here, even those a month or so younger he is smaller than. He is perfectly healthy and hitting every milestone on time or early for most, just small...

  12. my son was 7.7 at birth and is now 14 months old and weighs about 20 pounds.

  13. Yeah, my son is 5 months old and is about 15 lbs 6 oz. He is really tall too though at about 28 inches. Everyone tells me I'm not feeding him enough (he nurses every 2 hours at least) but his doc says he is doing just fine, he just can't keep up with his growth spurts. I just started him on cereal too, so that should help with his weight.
