Anyone else having trouble with sky plus box?

i had a new sky plus box just over a year ago as the old one kept freezing on me,now it keeps switching off on its own has happened 5 times today,rang sky and all they said was i had to pay £85 for an engineer to call,just wondered if anyone Else's box has lasted more than a year

  1. We have had ours just over a year now and it is just starting to not work properly.


  2. i find the box lasts about 13 months and then a new one is needed think the box should remain sky's property and they should maintain free of charge

  3. My cousin works for sky and i work for a maintainance company, and you should have never had to pay that for the engineer to come out at all. At the end of the day your box is faulty and they should replace it.

  4. I really think that SKYE are doing this to people's boxes. They can easily get access to your SKYE+ box overnight and change settings so that you think you have a fault. This has happended to me just after the warranty expired. They phoned me up asking why I would not renew it. --The cost was far to much. They then make you think that there is a problem with your box and the way out is to call out an "engineer" at great cost or even buy a new box. It has happend to me now 3 times in the past 4 years. The first time I bought a 2nd hand box and got SKYE to reconfigure my settings for the 2nd hand box which they did. Now, if my box does freeze I just phone them up and tell them that I am unhappy with the service I am receiving and the fault seems to fix itself overnight after re-booting the box. How can we get anyone to investigate this issue? It's not easy to proove!

    Just to answer your question I have had 2 boxes in 5 years. 2nd one after 1st year and is still OK after speaking to Skye ..as above.
