Anyone else hear about Bill Elliott having the Most Popular Driver award renamed after him?

I heard it a while back and I was wondering if anyone could verify it. It would be cool if it's true since Awesome Bill is my favorite driver of all time. Also he did win the award sixteen out of nineteen years.

Bill Elliot is a very wonderful person and driver I really miss him.  I love his accent and the way he talks.  He should be in the NASCAR Hall of Fame also.

I have not heard this. I have always been a fan of Bill's and believe he would not be too thrilled about having this named after him. He has always been very humble and shared his popularity with his team and owners and Ford and fans. Just as he did when he won races. It was never all about him. I have met him and know that because of the way he was on and off the track made him the most popular driver year after year. (he took his name off the list the year Sr died, how many would have done that?). The drivers of today can learn alot from the oldtimers, especially those like Bill and Mark.

This is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Not the NASCAR Bill Elliott Series. That just doesn't go right.

or,

That is an insult to Awesome Bill from Dawsonville knowing that Dale Joonyer is going to win the award over and over again. Bill deserves the SPRINT CUP to be named for him instead.
