Whenever I'm cooking with the onions, I feels a need to eat a bit of them just as they are. I especially am drawn towards the inner, rain-drop shaped sections of the onion. The white (Spanish?) onions are by far the best raw I think, since they're so mild. I happened to just buy one at the store for some stew, and I ended up eating like a quarter of it uncooked.
I'm not sure but I think I like the texture more than the flavor. Raw onion is like the most teeth-friendly texture I've experienced I think.
