It seems like ultrasound is so routine nowadays. I never had one with four pregnancies.

  1. Iv always had atleast two with each pregnancy, My ob's gave me one to confirm the pregnancy then another around 20 weeks. I know a lot of mid-wifes don't make you have an ultrasound a friend of mine has never had one because she thinks its harmful to the baby, She just has the midwife check the heartbeat for her.

  2. Well some women opt not to have ultrasounds.. Or some have lots of them.. It's  just a personal choice.. I prefer having them because they routinely check for any abnormalities or check if the baby is growing ok.. I wouldn't be able to go through my pregnancy without seeing my little baby in there knowing everyone has them.. Its impossible! To me at least.

  3. I didn't have to have one if I didn't want it.  But I REALLY wanted it to make sure that everything looked ok.

    Why wouldn't you want one?

  4. I think it is important to have one. They show alot and they tell how your baby is growing and if they are growing at a normal rate. They are also good for tell you how far along you to the day. I had one when I was 18 weeks and found out that I'm having twins! I probably would have lost it if I didn't know the whole time!

  5. I had an absolutely normal pregnacy and they did ultrasounds everytime. They also did a 3-d ultrasound at my doctors office. Also they had equipment to see whether the cord was wrapped around the babies neck or not. It's better to be prepared than go into it blind. Now I have a scrapbook of ultrasound pictures of my baby. I have pictures of her from having little nubs for arms and legs to having a huge picture of her foot. Now that she is here I still treasure those photos!

  6. I didn't quite manage to have NONE -- I had fertility treatments so the doctor was concerned about multiples.

But once it was determined that there was only one heartbeat, I never had of the 'routine' scans that most women have.

  7. I had tons of ultrasounds, I was high risk and I had ultrasounds every 2 weeks.
