It's spooky as h**l, and I don't even believe in conspiracies. I do believe in science and politics, though, two things that exist, and they hint:

1. Carrying Capacity- The earth's carrying capacity is limited but population keeps on increasing. If you know anything about biology, you know that after too many members of a species are around, when they go over the area's carrying capacity, a die-off- starvation- occurs. Why can't that happen to us? We're really smart, but the earth still has limited land and resources.

2. Dystopia-coming or already sort of here: Study the definition of Fascism and look at the hard realities of American politics, and you'll see why I am afraid. Fascist states follow patterns, and many of the first patterns are already there: rampant blind 'patriotism,' war-lust, fear of outsiders, a scapegoat (the Muslim world in this country,) taking away civil liberties...

3. Global warming: Weird, unexpected effects, like dying bats, bees, not rising oceans...

  1. I totally agree. What really scares me (and inpires a feeling almost of guilt, just for being part of this grossly destructive human race) is our technology. Sure, each gadget by itself is useful, and obviously I don't totally condemn them myself. But watching this huge tidal wave of technology crashing down on Earth...it's kind of sad.

I am, however, hesitantly hoping that we are over "the worst of it." In these last couple decades there definitely has been an environmentally conscious shift, and maybe that new generation of science will turn things around for the better.

Gosh, I wish I knew how the story would end!

  2. Wow, it is kind of scary.

  3. Me too. It's a good reason not to have children. I predict that sources of fresh water will dry up and countries will go to war for access. I'm not too optimistic about the future of humans on earth. I think it would be fair for us to become extinct and some new animals evolve to take our place.
