  1. No you are dead wrong.  Our prophet, Al Gore would not lie to us.  He is a very smart man.  He lives in a twenty room plus eight bath mansion in Nashville, Tennessee.  Al has two other homes.  Al said it, we believe it, end of story.

  2. In a lot of ways it resembles a doomsday cult.  Those that suggest AGW is going to kill us all unless we act right now base their conviction more on faith than a reasonable analysis of the potential benefits versus harm IMO.

  3. Uh, No!

  4. I assume the voices in your head have told you this?

  5. Yes, people are willing to reject science and make decisions based on faith.

Here's a chart showing the last 100+ years of warming:

Here's how scientific papers pro and con stack up:

The consensus was quantified in a Science study by Prof. Naomi Oreskes (Dec. 2004) in which she surveyed 928 scientific journal articles that matched the search [global climate change] at the ISI Web of Science. Of these, according to Oreskes, 75% agreed with the consensus view (either implicitly or explicitly), 25% took no stand one way or the other, and none rejected the consensus.

Hey, religion is legal.  Enjoy it while you can.

  6. I can see why you wanted to ask this question twice.  Once just couldn't contain the enthusiasm and interest.

One problem with this sort of meta-analysis is that if one starts out assuming there are similarities, one can always find them.  For example, if I wanted to, I could probably find lots of similarities between you and Paris Hilton, but that doesn't mean you are in fact Paris Hilton (although the identity can't be ruled out purely on the basis of a mismatch in intellectual abilities).  Furthermore, if you limit yourself to a subclass of properties of each object (i.e., limiting yourself to only the frightening similarities, thereby ignoring the non-frightening dissimilarities, which may in fact be far more important than the frightening similarities) you can really s***w up your classification scheme.

A lot of theoretical work at a very high level has gone into object classification (mainly in the realm of automated image analysis).  I suggest doing a google/scholar search using "object classification" as the string, then using some of the more recent work to construct a better scheme for objectively showing if AGW is indeed similar to religion.  You might also want to understand why you sometimes appear to be Paris Hilton.

  7. Yeah.  The anti-AGW sheep unquestionably believe their non-scientists prophets (e.g. Rush Limbaugh, Steve Milloy, Steve McIntyre)) while ignoring what actual climate scientists say.  Just like the religious unquestionably believe their creationist prophets (e.g. Ken Ham, Duane Gish) about evolution while ignoring what actual evolutionary scientists say.

  8. It's like a religion to some people. You can't debate, or question it. I have known people who would fight if I qustioned if it's climate change or AWG.

  9. As always once something reaches the sociopolitical level it reverts to religion. No more facts are needed just kneeling and prostration.

  10. Actually what I have noticed is the people who are trying to deny the scientific facts, which by the way have been confirmed by an overwhelming consensus of peer reviewed scientists, are more like those who thought the moon landing was faked in an movie studio. Somehow this made them doubt their own religion and world views.

Unfortunately I think those AGW deniers have something else on their agenda than simply protecting their religious ethos. I think the spirit of the "Church Lady would say something like this, I don't know, could it be $$$atan hhhmmmmmm?

  11. Yes... it is faith based

  12. The prophecies found in the bible from a long time ago are happening in our days. This means the end of this wicked world is coming to an end!!!
