Anyone else out there notice savings going from tank to tankless water heater?

Even though I couldn't really afford it, I charged up a tankless water heater and am about to replace my tank with it. Why? I can't seem to get my monthly power bill down despite making other small changes. Right now, I'm running about 250 in the hot months (Florida) and 200 in the cool months. There is only myself and one other using the hot water so usage is fairly low. I've read that I could save a decent amount going from tank to tankless given these circumstances. This will be an all electric setup. Basically going from electric tank to electric tankless.

  1. Electric heat is 100% efficient. (1KW in - 1 KW of heat) You will see almost no drop in your bills. In fact, many people see an increase in their bills because the instantaneous unit can supply MORE hot water. They use more - bill goes up.

Even with a gas unit - most people that use them see their bills go up. (They use WAY MORE hot water!)

  2. Hi Party On, I have installed at least 100 of on demand tanklless water heating units, and fortunately I have been friends with a few of the house holds that I installed them on, and they save you $ in the long run for sure. One of my buddy's said that he has saved about $20.00 - $30.00 a month with the unit, and there is only two folks living there also.

    Hope this helps

  3. I have a tankless. I luv it and have see a huge drop I'm my bill (gas), from an avg. of about 110 to about 65 a month. From my research before buying one the biggest savings is from gas usage. With your being electric the savings is not as large, 15-20% would be avg. If you can get for the 400$ then you will be ahead of the game in under a year. Make sure you check the istall requirements. many will void the warrenty if not install by a licensed person.

    Hope this helps

  4. If you are unable to see the idea behind the link that your first answer gave you...... you are unprepared to understand the ins and outs. I do not mean that with any ill intent in any way.

What I mean is that you have to do some more research.

  5. The experts say you will save energy, but the high cost of purchase has a long payback period.
