Question:

Anyone else out there who does not leave a tip for bad service?

I refuse to leave any tip for bad service from a waiter/waitress. They say the table is 10 percent for poor service, 15 for good, and 20 for excellent... that is the last I knew, anyway... but, personally, I won't leave any tip for a server who has given bad service. Anyone else out there like me? =)

  1. I give tips based on the service I received. I won't give a tip if I was given poor service. Guess I am like you!   =)

  2. I agree it is a tip not a fee. If the service is poor, then the waitstaff doesn't deserve it. I try not to let the food quality effect my decision, as the server is not the chef, but when it comes to interfacing with me at the table, timely and ensurring I have what I need promptly, I reward generously or miserly

  3. Totally agree why should you tip for bad service, I would'nt tip and would'nt use the place again and tell all my friends not to use it.When the buisness starts to go down the pan they may then do something.

  4. I almost always leave a tip. But if the service is really that bad, I'll rub it in and leave a quarter or dime on the table.

  5. i always do because if u were in there shoes you would want to get money. thats how they make their money

  6. Ahh.... most definitely.

I tip 20% for great service,

    15% for good service,

$1 if it didn't just out and out suck,

and $0.50 if they were the absolute worst, so they can get a paper and find a new job they might be good at.

  7. How could you not tip??? If the service is bad at least tip them a penny!!! lol.

I agree if the service isn't good then you don't tip. But if it's just outrageously bad then I'll pist them off by giving them a tip. The tip is....."Go home, get laid and come back a better server tomorrow."

Does anyone agree with my tip????

  8. Not leaving a tip is bad manners.

  9. We ate at a buffet just recently. They forgot to bring out forks, spoons, knives, or drinks, so we had to wait for them. Also, they barely refilled the food, which was cold, and the good food (like the crab legs) were only refilled once the entire night (and gone soon after). We left without tipping.

If the waiters/waitresses don't do their jobs then they don't deserve a tip. Tips aren't legally mandated, they are given as a bonus for good service. If barely any service is given (as in my example), then they don't deserve a tip - they barely deserve a paycheck.

  10. Who are you? Tipping is part of the dining experience and should never be skipped.  If you don't like the food or service then don't go back to that place.  Food service is a very difficult and frustrating way to make money because of attitudes similar to yours.  Bad service to you may be perfectly acceptable to someone else.  I personally tip every time.  The one exception is when I get ignored completely and I havent ordered anything.....I bounce!  Your little system of tipping is more of an excuse to not tip.  Just be kind and courteous to your server and keep your expectations a little lower.  They are there for you ....yes....but they have others to serve too.  Your supposed to enjoy your meal and not turn it into the Peoples Court.  I love you!

  11. I would be one of those people. This whole tipping business is just another form of mooching. The owner is underpaying their employees.

  12. i agree with you fully.....if the service is good i am always very generous with a tip...even if i can see the place is very busy if the server is making an attempt..i tip well..but for outright poor service i leave nothing.

  13. Mm...I still leave a tip, just not a big of one as I would of given them, like the 20% if they would of given me better service. It's improper not to give a tip.

  14. If the service is good, I tip 20-25%, fair, 15%, but if it is absolutely lousy, I tip a penny. I don't want them to think I forgot altogether. I want them to get the point.

  15. i'm like you if the service is bad i won't tip, it's that simple .
