Question:

Anyone else see something wrong with this scenario?

2 different people, both public figures say something wrong.

The 1st, Don Imus, a old grump who was speaking his "own" mind openly used a derogatory phrase. Most people freak out, (including the second person mentioned here) and want this man tared an feathered and rode out of town on a rail. The story is in the press for weeks.

The second Jessie Jackson is caught saying (unaware that his mic was on) something much worse and actually uses a term which has been deemed a racial slur and many states and leaders (including himself) are calling for a ban of using the word. All the people calling for the ban on this word shut up, and scatter like roaches when the light is turned on. This gets very little press coverage and is pretty much swept under the rug.

  1. Imus openly used a racist slur in a way that was clearly meant to demean every black person in the world, while Jackson was insulting one particular individual in private conversation. There's no comparison between the cases. Also Imus was being paid to say what he said, Jackson was talking as an individual in a private conversation.

Both are slime balls and both incidents got far more coverage than they merited.

  2. Bingo!

This is nothing new at all, and one example of why there is division in our country.

Racism has been turned into a one way street, and most of us are sick and tired of that double standard.

  3. Politically correct is for white peole only.  Everybody else can say anything they want.

  4. Yes.And can we ever be sure Jessie Jackson really didn't know his mike was on?Its so easy to lie, especially when he got no flak because of it.Just another day at the office.
