I know that Slayer have a devoted army of Fangirls/boys but... It's so repetitive! It's basically the same d**n song all over again. "Postmortem" has essentially the same riff as "Jesus Saves"; "Criminally Insane" has the same drum break intro as "Epidemic"; "Alter of Sacrifice" has the same riff as "Reborn"; "Angel of Death" is one of the most overrated songs I've ever heard, just pure noise without any redeeming facets.

Before you ask, I am a fan of Extreme Music... Metal or not.

  1. I think slayer is a bit overrated if i say so myself...

  2. man you gotta be thinking with your "little head" reign in blood overated my a$$

  3. well of course it's overrated, but that doesn't mean they're not good songs.

most of their songs use the some kinds of riffs really, but the same with most kinds of music, thats how you would define a genre of music, for example the blues uses the minor pentatonic, wiith the blue note, without the blue note, it aint blues! yam sayin?

  4. In a way, they're a little like AC/DC- not in sound, but approach. They deliver what the fans expect from them. Consistently kickasss rock.

  5. The whole over-rated aspect is all a matter of opinion, I thought it was brilliant.

  6. anyone that thinks any Slayer record or song is overrated is an ignoramus; Slayer is one of the FOUNDING FATHERS of EPIC THRASH metal, in fact the REAL FIRST metal song was Evil Has No Boundaries in 1983 IT WAS NOT BALCK SABBATH; Black Sabbath Slayer had the first metal song. Metallica is OVERRATED and they are SELL OUTS Slayer has ALWAYS KEPT TRUE TO THE FANS

EDIT: I am in no way angry

  7. Reign in Blood is a classic, it is not overrated. It set a stardard for thrash/Death Metal. Slayer are godfathers of thrash metal. Alot of the newer bands don't compare to old Slayer.

  8. No I , DONT THINK SO

  9. I don't think so...

    This album is genius.

    "Raining Blood" is overrated,

    stupid guitar hero.

  10. No way, it's the album as a whole thats impressive, it never lets up from start to finish and sounds as relevant today as it did 20 years ago. Definitely not overrated!!

  11. Blasphemy...

I think angel of death is an amazing song! You ever seen them live?

  12. yeah i couldn't be bothered with that album,i use to listen to it when i was 12, the best release in '86 was the puppets album, still sounds d**n good

  13. no way its a great album and its not overated

  14. I think it's ******* awesome. Then again, it's the only album i own from them.

  15. yea i see what your saying but that is kind of the charm of it. its not a muso's record. its at the crude punky end of metal, like venom.

  16. Finally, someone that isn't a puppet of the masses

  17. Yes, they are the AC/DC of thrash.  they have an uncanny ability to make the same album over and over again, but still hold the attention of their audience.

  18. I agree with Fonzie, their songs do have a very similar style, but its what works for them.

  19. Are you nuts?... Reign in Blood is one of the benchmarks in thrash metal.  The riffs may be similar, but that album set the standard for many years and it still kicks *** to this day.

  20. I agree...not to say its bad, but it doesn't deserve the praise it gets....there are what, 3 songs with a somewhat different time structure

Angel of Death, Postmortem and Reign in Blood (which are also the three best)

The others might as well be one song

h**l Awaits and Haunting the Chapel are superior and are extremely underrated.  I'd also say Seasons in the abyss and South of heaven are more diverse and better albums
