Anyone else think that the England Rugby were dignified in defeat.?

Unlike football players who lie on the pitch crying when they lose. Our rugby players were so dignified, I felt very proud of them.

Also, does anyone else think that Gordon Brown seemed to be congratulating South Africa with a little too much gusto ~ almost like he was relishing our defeat.

  1. Yes, because they are true sportsmen and can recognise when they get beaten by a better team, unlike the overpaid prima donnas you get in football.

Gordon Brown wasn't a very good ambassador for the English team, Scottish roots lie very deep.  Would sooner have seen Harry or Wills consoling the team

  2. Speaking as a Scotsman, I thought they were very dignified.  as for Brown, there's more chance of him supporting England than Scotland nowadays!

  3. Yes, it is commendable how they showed great dignity in defeat, no histrionics from any of the players.

But there is no shame in crying either, it just shows how much sportsmen want to win and when they lose they are overcome by their emotions.

World cups only come round every four years. It's the most important competition in rugby, football and cricket and many of the players may not be around to compete in the next one, so it is understandable how much they want to win it at least once.

Our boys did us proud and they have nothing to be ashamed of, they can hold their heads high and rightly so.

  4. yes they were very dignified and we should all be proud of them ,as for Gordon Brown well the less said the better

  5. We should be very proud of our English ruby team,

Would a true Scot ever want a English team to win?

    GB go back to Scotland

  6. what other way should they be ?

    they are a useless team

  7. I dont think they were dignified in defeat. They all had to mention the try which wasnt given. Even tho it was a try. Then when they got their losers medal a couple of the england team walked straight past an out streched south african presidents hand without shaking it. Including Jonny wilkinson. Those players are a disgrace to englan and the sport.

  8. What else did you expect. They are  RUGBY  players.

As for Golden Brown he spotted the chance for a bit of foreign policy PR. He never has been that interested in England.

  9. Yes i agree on both counts.

Gordon Brown is Scottish so obviously he was pleased S Africa won

  10. They were absolutely brilliant - makes one proud to be British even after being beaten they were so gracious to the South Africans not a hint of nastiness and amongst the fans too ,It was so refreshing to see . With the 'try' being disallowed as well that could have turned the game for them there was no bitterness or blame - I'm sure English footballers and fans alike would still be arguing with the ref if a 'goal ' was disallowed . Great squad pity they wont be all continuing in the future but they have some great young players coming through . Congratulations to South Africa too they had a great tournament and were worthy winners on their consistency throughout the tournament

  11. England weren't too shabby at all - I think they can leave Paris with their heads up. I'm proud of them

  12. They probably went out and got smashed that night.Good for them as well.

As for Gordon Brown,he's a Scot, why would he support England?

  13. England did really well.

  14. again a snidey anti football remark from a rugby fan, cant you just enjoy your sport without this chip on your shoulder?

.........so you know footballers personally? or do you just read heat magazine? ever been in a bar with rugby players?dignified they are not.

im not saying footballers are lovely people but dont believe all you read,im absolutely sure if rugby had the profile that football did you would change your mind.
