Anyone else think they should not allow NBA players to sign with European teams

Sorry, but i want to see the best players play over here. Not on some dummpy euro team that does not have a cap so they can fork out as much money as they want to NBA players.

Either the NBA gets rid of the cap, forces the european league to have a cap. Or ban European teams from signing NBA players all together.

What do you guys think?

  1. Ever heard of free enterprise?

How could a US based basketball league ever be able to tell dozens of leagues and hundreds of teams organized under the laws of numerous other countries what to do?

With that thinking, European teams would be able to tell NBA teams they could only sign 1 European player per team, or could only pay them $x per year, etc.

If the NBA had no cap, the Knicks, Lakers, and one or two other teams would sign ALL the top talent.

  2. They can't prevent it.  It would be an unreasonable restraint of trade.  The World Trade Organization would be in David Stern's eyes like pepper.

The NBA can't force the European clubs to have salary caps.  They have no ownership stake in Europe.

If the dumpy Euro-squad wants to cough up an unreasonable amount of money, why should you care?

  3. What the h**l are you a communist? You can't FORCE European teams to get get a cap. You can't BAN European teams from signing NBA players. You can't FORCE NBA players not to sign with European teams unless it's in the contract, which is extremely complicated and highly unlikely because of the internationally differing legalities of it.

Of course I don't WANT Kobe, LeBron and others to sign with the Euro's, but we can't prevent it with most of your solutions. Basic human rights are more important than where basketball players play anyway.

  4. Players should be allowed to play wherever they want.  And if LeBron, Kobe, D-Wade, etc. all play for Spartak Moscow, Real Madrid, Olympiakos, Pananthinaikos, Maccabi or whoever else wants to dump the cash, then this may spark a huge amount of interest in the Euroleague and we'll see a new Fox Basketball Channel or something on TV.

If the power of the men's pro basketball leagues start to go to other leagues besides the NBA, we may start seeing Yao and Yi coming back to the Shanghai Sharks and the Guangdong Tigers respectively.  Then you could see T-Mac, Steve Francis, and D-Wade play in China or Korea though I don't know much about their pro leagues...  Besides the Euroleague, I can see the Asian leagues pulling a move like this too.

  5. No, you are the only stupid nationalist that prefers that.

  6. Sorry, so you're suggesting a sporting company, created to solely make money for themselves should have a say in what an individual person can do for their job?

How would you feel if you decided the company you worked for wasn't right for you but they wouldn't let you take a job somewhere else that paid you more? Sounds more like Russia 50 years ago than a modern society

  7. I think it's the player's choice to compete for their own country.

  8. lol...lol...S-O-R-R-Y!!

Americans 'woo-ed' Beckham from Europe.....why not the same rules for Europe!

And the WORST part is after ALL the Millions & the Beverly Hills Mansion....he's done nothing Exciting....He just 'prances' around the Hollywood Scene, with his 'Butt-UGLY' Wife....lol...lol...  **OUCH**!!

  9. yo dawg i agree!

    BrAnDyZ sIsTa CaNdY

  10. Ok, listen

I doubt even a guy like David Stern would allow this to happen.

If many many players continue to leave the states to pay for higher money, wouldnt we see an influx of college kids who still ahve potential take over the league?

Ok, its not like i want guys like Lebron or Kobe to leave US to play elsewhere, but if they leave, so let them.  They'll be scorned by the US for eternity.  Both knows of how things work in the NBA already and im sure they are happy where they are.

And like what gilbert arenas proudly said," Theres nothing i can buy my family thats 125 million dollars that i cant buy with 117 million."

And look, NBA and Europe arent a coalition.  NBA dont have authority to disallow any player from leaving to play for Europe. And they defiently can't "force" a cap on the European league.  Hey, hwo do you know that dont already have one?

And 50 mil to play in Europe.  If the Europe can serve up 100 million dollars for two playesr, then they can go ahead.  They just wasted hella money on basketball.

And finally, i still think there are more players coming to play for the US from other countries than the other way around.  We still have a higher import rate than export.

  11. The stars will never join Euro leagues...don't believe all of that 50 million a year thing because that will NEVER happen.

Why would the NBA get rid of the cap? That would ruin the NBA.

  12. Dude last time i checked this is a free Country ,Don't be stupid

  13. The owners are never gonna get rid of the cap, and there's no legal way to keep players from going to Europe. However, there are realistically only two or three teams that could bid the kind of money to lure any big name players to play ball half a world away. At this point LBJ and Kobe are only bringing it us so they can use it as leverage to drive up their prices once they hit free agency Kobe next year and Lebron the following season

  14. they should merge leagues, like the ABA but instead making a whole new division for europe

  15. no ur just stupid,

  16. No.

All people on Earth should have their freedom.Just because they're NBA players doesn't mean they are special and have no freedom. If they sign with Euro,we'll just talk about those backstabbers.

  17. YourStupid.

    Bye.

  18. If you are one of the "best players" you will play here.  Europe is designed for college players ( e.i. Kirk Penney who did get drafted by the NBA but never made the team) but are still good enough to be a pro player.
