Anyone else think we should go back to the situation where the loser became the VP?

I think America would be seriously served by having these two serve in the same executive branch. More so than having either Palin or Biden in there. So, I think this time we should make the loser be the VP.

Actually, yes, and in this sense I think a lot of european countries are much more "democratic" than the US. In Europe there are so many parties, candidates and so on, that they are forced to work together, even at the highest levels of government, because you always have coallition governments. While it does make for a lot of compromise, I think it's preferable to the executive branch having to fight the legislative etc.

Not necessarily.  The VP has no real power and as such the #2 would simply end up being filed away.  What a waste.  At least this way either McCain or Obama can continue to fight for their agenda in the Senate.
