Question:

Anyone else using primus internet service in Toronto/Ontario having service issues?

I keep loosing the internet for 5 minutes - an hour. And I am pretty sure it isn't a problem on my end, anyone else having the same problems?

  1. Hi - I had the high Speed Primus Internet service. Notice I said had! It was installed last November (Etobicoke Ontario area) and after dozens of calls, 3 modems, Bell service call to my home, the original problem persisted until I ordered the service to be cancelled. Magically a week after this, a bell technician called and said they changed the service to "Interleaving" (what-ever-that-means) and it actually stayed working once they switched that protocol. However, since I had already ordered the cancellation thinking that November 2006 to March 31, 2007 was long enough to allow them to give me inconsistent and regularly interupted service - I switched to Rogers High Speed on May 1, 2007. The Primus home phone and long distance are still being used by me and this service from Primus is reliable - but the Internet was an absolute disaster in my experience..... they kept blaming my equipment, wiring etc. even though I am a technician and actually talked their language. One time the Primus technician was telling me that  according to their "Lamp" tracking software that my modem had been consistently connected. So while on the phone with the technician, I unplugged the modem from the phone line. He still insisted that his test was telling him the modem was connected! I just figured I couldn't rely on the service so I switched to Rogers... Hope this helps your own situation! James


  2. Yeah me too, but I live in the Western side. I am also having problems. Weird. But I don't use Primus Internet Service.

  3. I haven't subscribed to Primus myself, but I have friends and family in the GTA who do. Over the last month or so they have experienced problems with both their internet and phone lines on quite a few occassions. So, I'm sure you're not alone in this inconvenience.

    I know that they (my friends) have complained to Primus, but only had the issue resolved temporarily. From what I've heard, Primus gave them a different 'diagnosis' each time. They've gone through different modems, routers, filters, etc. but still experience the same interruptions with their internet service.
