Anyone elses mother do this?

Today in target my mom made a comment about my shirt smelling bad (i guess not anyone likes lucky lol) i was like ok mom(bc ive leaned to just ignore her lol) but she went on and on and on about how she didn't like the smell of my shirt. She talked about it until we got home. She didn't shut up until she saw me put the shirt in the washing machine. Some of my friends say their moms do it too. Why do some moms do this? What did she think i was gonna do take my shirt off in target?Do they not think you heard them the first time? and do they not realize all it does is make your daughter tune you out completely ?

my moms never done that to me, but she has always told me i needed to lose weight! and my sister has always been bigger than me (until about 2 years ago.

so i know what you mean about the tuning out thing,but unlike you i cant take off my few extra lbs of weight after havign 3 kids!

maybe you should tell her next time , i heard you and its my perfume and i like it.

It sounds to me like you didn't give her a satisfactory response the first time she made a comment.  Next time try saying something like, "Thanks for letting me know.  I'll wash it as soon as I get home."  Since you said yourself you've learned to ignore her, perhaps she feels that if she doesn't continually nag you, you won't take care of things.  Acknowledging her concern and telling her what you will do about it may be all she needs to calm down.

I'm so sorry for you. You can learn from this though. With your children you don't have to be so mean. You can be a great mother. SOrry your mom is harsh.

You can try putting less perfume, maybe you had too much on you that just stunk and your mom couldn't help not to make a point.  Or your mom exaggerates and you have to tell her I heard you and walk a few feet away from her.  At least you don't have to listen closely to what she has to say.   Sorry!
