Perhaps I am going crazy, but I have been pondering the concept of creating my own system of government, finding enough people who agree with me and moving to a reasonably small island and being a completely self dependent state. Of course understanding that we would still belong to whatever nation actually claims the land use and ultimately are still responsible to that government. But otherwise we would not have deal with that government. Has anyone else ever considered this? What are you ideas?

  1. / You are right about your statement that you would still belong to whatever nation actually claims the land use.

For this to truly work, you would have to discover a land mass which was undiscovered and unclaimed.  By now, all land masses are accounted .

There is still hope - a volcano could erupt in international water resulting in a new land mass.  Or, you could create an island in international water.

  2. Not since I was 13 or so.

  3. Why not just start a town?

  4. I have... It's called casa de Canfield.... and I am the HNIC up in da mother.

  5. No!!!!

  6. Yes!  It's called a Home Owners Association.  And it imposes all the same concepts of tyrranical taxation, absolute power, bureaucratic red tape, political favoritism and power grubbing of any other illegitimate government, at any level.
