I just moved into New York City (found a flat in New Jersey for really cheap) and I am in the mood for some Chinese food.

Has anyone here ever are at Shun Lee Palace? My New York City guide tells me that it is the top Chinese restuarant in NYC's Chinatown and I was wondering if it is good.

  1. I haven't been there for years, but you can get much better food at much cheaper prices in a Chinatown restaurant.  Both Shun Lees are overpriced and pretentious - you have to get dressed up.  I think the food at Fuleen Seafood on Division Street in Chinatown is much better and is less than one-third the price. The Great New York Noodletown on the Bowery looks like a dump, but the food's great.  Get Dim Sum at Jing Fong;  get some great soup dumplings at Joe's Shanghai on Pell Street (they're also midtown on 56th Street).  When you get yourself settled, also check out the restaurants in Flushing Queens (the #7 train - stop after Shea Stadium) and Sunset Park in Brooklyn on Eighth Avenue on the R train.  Welcome to New York.
