Thinking about taking one of these 2 cruises to the Western or Eastern Caribbean in January. Any reviews? What's the anytime dining like? Thanks for your answers.

  1. Hi there. I used to work for Princess cruises.  Anytime dining is Princesses way of making the main dining room more accessible & less constricting with time.  One level of the dining room is set for set times, the other is come & go as you please. There is also a buffet which is open almost 24 hours a day as well as other specialyt restaurants on the ship.  These however have a small fee of $15 or $20.  The Italian restaurant is Sabotini's & the other one depends on which ship you are on. I haven't worked on either the Satr or the Caribbean, so can't help with the names.  As far as which ship to go on, if you haev never cruised there isn't much difference.  Caribbean is the bigger of the 2, they will have different shows.  have a great trip!!!!

  2. No, unfortunately I've never been on a cruise. But I guess google for information on either, and see which suits you better.

  4. I went on Caribbean Princess last November.  I opted for traditional seating.  You do have a choice.  I like to get aquainted with the people so that the conversations go a little deeper than-  Hey what's your name?   Where are you from?  etc, etc...  I get enough of that just from breakfast and lunch.

Don't get me wrong, I am not an antisocial person, but having the same conversation over and over again leaves me exhausted by the middle of the cruise.  I like to get to know people so that by the time the second day rolls around you can pretty much be comfortable with each other.

Also, just my two cents-  I liked Royal Caribbean way better than Princess.  With Princess the tips are charged daily and I have a theory that when they know they are getting tipped anyway, they are less likely to go the extra mile for you.  On Royal Caribbean they have incentive to give good service with hopes they will be rewarded for it...

    Hope this helped!
